Over 100 vintage planes flew into Freeman Field in Junction City this past weekend. This is the sixth year for the fly in and many stated that it was the best one yet! Pilots from all over the country flew in and parked their planes for display. The public was able to walk the tarmac and view the many planes. Some were even able to take a ride in the sky. If you were around town you could hear the skies rumbling with engines and even catch a glimpse of vintage aircraft. Look for next years 2017 Biplane Fly In around June.

This is one of my favorite walking trails in Junction City. The River Walk Trail was dedicated on June 6, 1998. It is 4.8 miles along the scenic Republican River with several rest stops along the way. It is right outside the Washington gate of Fort Riley.

The River Walk Trail allows horseback riding, biking, pet walking, as well as walkers and runners. Every now and then on the River Walk Trail you will notice many Fort Riley soldiers backpacking to prepare for combat training. It's the perfect location for a Saturday stroll with your family. I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy this just as much as I have!
