Prospect Hills is a historic neighborhood on the southwest side of Topeka across the street from the 160 acre Gage Park. Originally a farm with a huge pond where I-70 crosses Danbury Lane, Prospect Hills was the Prospect Hills Golf Club during the 1920's and until 1938 when Alf Landon purchased the land and created Prospect Hills. An interesting fact is that there was a steam train that ran from downtown to Martin Hill, which we know as Menninger Hill, and stopped at the McAfee Pond to swim in the summer, and chop ice in the winter.
