Cimarron Hills Area Insight

  • Cimarron Hills was the southeast city limits in Lawrence when I was growing up and all the kids went to school with me at South Junior High. My first girlfriend lived in the middle of the subdivision and I would ride my bike over there from the other side of the schools. The subdivision is located SE of 23rd and Haskell and most homes were built in the mid 1970's as 3BR, 1BA, 1 car garage ranches with or without a basement. There are a few bi-levels. Market values average $100,000 to $140,000. The streets were named after TV shows from the 60s and 70s - Rawhide, Bonanza, Maverick, Ponderosa and the numbered streets are 25th to 29th. From 1985-1990, 72 acres to the east was assembled to include the seven acre Mary's Lake, the Prairie Park Nature Center and Prairie Park city park. Then in 1994 Prairie Park Elementary school was built which is now the neighborhood school. The link below shows the streets and map of the land surrounding it. Good value for your money attached to one of the largest residential subdivisions in Lawrence.
