  • Deerfield Park Subdivision
Deerfield Park is a popular neighborhood in Lawrence partly because of its great location and also because of its proximity to the elementary school it shares a name with. It's located primarily on the descending slope of the hill overlooking the Kansas River valley, north of 6th Street, in between Lawrence Avenue and Kasold Drive. The area seems part of Lawrence yet partly set off on its own at the same time.

Bordered on the east by Deerfield Elementary, this is a relatively affordable section of town sandwiched in between two exclusive neighborhoods: Lawrence Country Club to the east and Fall Creek Farms to the west. Values range from $125,000 to $275,000, with most homes being constructed in the 1960's and 1970's. Mature trees fill out the area, giving it a slightly forested appearance, and the streets tend to wind and curve in place of the more common grind patterns found elsewhere. The West Lawrence Turnpike/I-70 interchange is only about a mile away, making the area ideal for commutes to Kansas City or Topeka.
