    University Place North Subdivision
University Place Neighborhood has been one of my favorite neighborhoods in Lawrence since I moved here over 15 years ago. Hugging the University of Kansas's southern edge, University Place rides the slope of Mount Oread down from Sunnyside Ave down to 19th street. With Lawrence High School located directly south of 19th and Cordley Elementary School just to the east, the neighborhood is surrounded by great schools. Veteran's Park can be found here and features a fantastic green space, a playground, and tennis and basketball courts.

The homes here are absolutely incredible. From older stone houses and cute one-story bungalows to multi-story homes that have been meticulously cared for, and all the way to an ultra-modern home recently built, the variety of the neighborhood speaks to the variety of experience that defines the nearby university and the town of Lawrence. That's why I feel this neighborhood is one of those that I most think of when I attempt to describe this city.

The streets here are quiet, as few of them actually provide entry into campus so through traffic is rarely a concern for families with children. One home in the neighborhood features a "Little Free Library" on the sidewalk, one of several free street-side libraries that are scattered around town. In spring, you'll find invested owners getting their yards ready for the warm weather. As the homes climb the hill, you'll see some incredible and creative uses of lawn space that might challenge the flat-land stereotypes of people from outside of Kansas.

This neighborhood is an incredible space that should not be overlooked when searching for a home in Lawrence. It has endured the test of time, and with its central location and proximity to KU, the homes here will hold their value for years to come.
