Lake Kahola was developed in the 1930's as a reservoir for the City of Emporia. The south portion of the lake is in Chase County, KS, and the north portion of the lake is located in Morris County, KS. Emporia is approximately 20 miles away, Council Grove is approximately 15 miles away, with Strong City and Cottonwood Falls nearby. Lake Kahola is nestled in the Flint Hills, with spectacular sunrises and sunsets year-round. Currently, Lake Kahola is owned by the homeowners, with approximately 180 lots containing lake homes and cabins. The Kahola Homeowners Association (KHA) has a full time Director of Operations. Boating, swimming, fishing and camping are allowed for residents only and their guests. The lake is not open to the public.
