The Moniteau County Agricultural & Mechanical Society, better known as the Moniteau County Fair, will celebrate its 150th year this summer (2016). It is the oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi River. The fair is normally held the first week of August each year. Activities normally include livestock shows, tractor pull, demolition derby, figure eight race, Western horse show, team penning, carnival, art hall exhibits and various other activities. Come join us for a good time.

I grew up just a block away and enjoyed this park to the fullest extent. There is a great frisbee golf course, tennis courts, asphalt trail, 3 pavilions, 4 play equipment sites, exercise equipment, and a beautiful lake to fish. This is a beautiful area to spend time outdoors.

California is the county seat for Moniteau County and we have a neat county courthouse. This is an interesting historical building. Stop by and walk through it if you're ever in town.

This is a beautiful park with a paved walking trail, fitness stations, and lots of playground equipment. There are four shelter houses for gatherings and BBQ's. There is also a nice sized lake where you can fish or enjoy the fountain.
