  • Let's go to the movies! We don't have to travel far to go to my favorite theater. It's right here in Clinton. B&B Theatres - Missouri Cinema 6, located at: 431 Missouri Ave., Clinton, MO, just behind Sonic, is my all time-absolute-favorite theater! It has plush, super-comfy reclining seats, six theater rooms, a wide variety of concessions to choose from, and a courteous/helpful staff. My favorite day to go to the movies is "Treat Yourself Tuesday". On Tuesdays, if you are a backstage pass member, all movie tickets are only $5.00 per person. You just sign up for free with your phone number or email address and enjoy the perks and The Magic of the Movies, of course.
  • I would be a very rich woman if I had a nickel for every time one of our kids said "Mom, I'm bored! There's nothing to do." Here is one of my favorite go-to responses - "Let's go for a walk on the Katy Trail."

You never know what you will find - birds, snakes, squirrels, flowers, insects, travelers, and more! As wild as it sounds, my husband and I once met a team training their sled-dogs for the Iditarod right there on the Katy Trail. This is an awesome trail for walking, jogging, biking, or even horseback riding. It starts in Clinton and goes all the way to Machens, MO (north of St.Louis).

The Katy Trail is a state park built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT or Katy) and is 240 miles long. While hiking the trail, you will soak up some sunshine while enjoying the scenery, the history, perhaps the company, and the great outdoors. There are restrooms and parking for your convenience at the starting point in Clinton. The best part is, it's free!

Our four legged furry friends have become more than just pets. They are apart of our family. If you have a child who wants to go play, where do you take them? A park, right? Well, our family dogs need a place to play also. Clinton has a dog park. It's located behind the indoor aquatic center on Price Lane. This park is for someone who just wants to take there dog somewhere to run with a fenced in boundary or people who want to get together to let their dogs play.

All dogs must be up to date on their shots. For more information, contact the civic center.

If you are in the Clinton area this weekend, do not miss the chance to attend Ole' Glory Days! I hear they are raffling off a car Saturday evening! I was in town briefly yesterday and I couldn't resist walking through the square to get a Blooming Onion before I left. Hoping you have great weather this weekend. So many people work together to make this happen on a yearly basis!
  • I got to spend the afternoon with my favorite ladies at Salon JulRuss yesterday in Clinton. The ladies at Salon JulRuss have an absolutely great salon that takes care of just about anything you would need a salon to take care of. Women, men, children, haircuts, hair color, perms and styles, nails and toes! When you are a client of Rose, Julii, Cindy and/or Michelle, you become part of the Salon JulRuss family! It is never a dull day in the salon, and no matter what your mood when you enter the building, you will leave smiling. That is why I choose to drive the one hour, one way, trip to visit these ladies! If you are new to Clinton and looking for a salon family, I highly recommend checking these ladies out!

I grew up in this community and was so lucky to get the opportunity to move back to Clinton in 2011. There is nothing like small town living to really allow you to slow down and focus on the important things in life like family, friends and a community that wants to get to know you!

Come take a walk around Clinton's historic downtown square and it won't take long to realize that the hustle and bustle of the big city is nowhere to be found. Life moves at a different pace here in the Golden Valley. With Truman Lake on our doorstep, the family activities are abundant. Hunting, fishing, boating, camping and biking just to name a few. Come visit soon!
