One of my favorite locations in Central Missouri is the University of Central Missouri, located in Warrensburg Missouri. I graduated from this school and loved my time in the classroom. The courses were challenging and the faculty were great

Cave Hollow Park in Warrensburg, MO truly is a hidden oasis! Cave Hollow is best known for its towering natural rock formations which make for great sights along the 0.5-mile walking trail. This park has much more than just walking trails though; children can enjoy the playground as well as the many baseball/softball fields. Reservable picnics shelters, electricity hook-ups, restrooms, and BBQ grills are also available for fun family gatherings. Make sure not to forget your furry friends, Old Drum Dog Park is on-site as well! Cave Hollow Park is just west of downtown Warrensburg on Gay Street.

The University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg has provided students with a top-notch education for many years. But did you know that the college also provides awesome recreational actives to the public? UCM's Union Bowling Center is located in the Elliot Student Union for single games or party packages. Inside the Student Recreation Center, you'll find the UCM indoor rock climbing wall. The wall features over 1000 square feet of wall space to test your climbing skills. Lastly, visit UCM's Multipurpose Building to take advantage of handball, racquetball, basketball, and volleyball courts. This school truly is a great resource for the community!

Zaxby's is a chicken restaurant that specializes in chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and salads. They have a regular specials menu that you can order off of or you can order from the regular menu. The salads are made fresh and are very good. The chicken sandwiches you can get grilled or fried served with crinkle fries. They even put a special seasoning on the fries that make them all so good. Try the Zaxby's sauce when you are there, you wont be disappointed.

Come on out to Hawthorne Plaza located on the north side of town just behind Walmart, between Aldi and the theater. When you go in, tell them Bryan from RE/MAX sent you over. Zaxby's is located at 322 Hawthorne Blvd in Warrensburg. You can also order online from the website.

One Body Massage is located in Warrensburg in the back of the JW Franklin building located on Gay Street. One Body Massage specializes in many different massages and appointments are very easy to set. If you go online you can set up an appointment for one of the three massage therapist located at this location.

Every year on the last Saturday in March, Rise host a breakfast bash. During this years bash it will be the theme from The Greatest Showman. They will have carnival games and many other events going on. They will also have a silent auction and raffle. The auction will consist of many things donated by businesses in the community or made by Rise employees in the shop. They will also have a raffle for a plane ride and dinner. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. They are $10 for adults and $5 for kids age 4 to 12. The raffle tickets are one for $10 or 3 for $20.

Country Pets and Ponds is a locally owned pet store located in Warrensburg at 241 NW 21 Rd. They specialize in fish, reptiles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits. They also carry a large supply of food, cages and supplies for the care of these type of animals. You will also find Taste of The Wild dog and cat food. They do carry some dog supplies such as collars, leashes, treats and training toys. You wont be disappointed when you go to visit this store owned by Dawn and Randy. Randy is a retired police officer from the Warrensburg Police Department.

Lion's Lake is beautiful year round. Summer brings fishermen, and hammocks hang from trees. In May, you'll see lots of photographers using the gorgeous lake as a backdrop for wedding and graduation pictures. Fall is the most beautiful time for this scenic area, in my opinion. The many types of trees turn an array of colors from yellows to purples and everything in between. Definitely worth a visit.

Warrensburg Trails Regional Library will be hosting story time every Tuesday. There will be different times for different age groups. You can get more information by texting at wbstory to 81010. The times will be 9:30 a.m. up to 2 years old, 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. is for 3 to 5 years old.

They will also be offering a Thursday story time for age 3 to 7 at 6:00 p.m.

The City of Warensburg will be hosting a Food Truck Festival in conjunction with The University of Central Missouri and Johnson County Sheltered Workshop in support of the all inclusive playground being built in Cave Hallow Park. The festival will be held from 4:00 to 730 p.m. in the UCM Kirkpatrick Library. Donations will be made to support the all inclusive playground which the city is matching dollar to dollar until May 15 up to $40,000.

Hidden Pines Golf Course is one of Missouri's best kept secrets. This is a country club course that provides a great 18 hole course. The public is welcome to play the course. When you are done go by the club house and eat lunch or dinner. This is some of the best food you can find in Warrensburg for a great price. I promise you wont be disappointed in the course or the food.

Hawthorne Plaza is a great place to shop, eat and do business. Located just off of Highway 13, there are 197 parking spaces, and ample handicap spots. The stores got new shade/weather awnings this year. The merchants host vendor shows, sales events, mall-wide sales and free family entertainment events that draw hundreds. One of the most popular events is the annual Back To School outdoor movie night that draws more than 500 children and adults. The sponsors provide free refreshments, bounce houses, arts and crafts and show a family friendly movie on a full size outdoor movie screen. They announce all of these events on the Facebook Page.

Here is one of the great things located in Warrensburg. It is known as YES around here but it stands for Youth Excited about Sports. It is a Christian based sports program that teaches kids the fundamentals of playing sports. They teach baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball as their primary programs. A lot of the coaching is done by UCM players who are willing to give their time to the area. The programs are run by OJ Rhone who played for the KC Royals. If you are 40 or under this is a great opportunity to network with others and learn. Last week they met with the Mayor of Warrensburg and a past Senator to learn about city and state government. It was a great time. In May they will be having two people come in to speak about lead generation and how to go about generating leads. The funny thing is if you are over 40 they will let you sneak into a meeting or two as a mentor.

From December through April, the Farmer's Market meets indoors on the first and third Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until noon. There are about 10 vendors that participate in the Winter Market, offering a variety of products. These include vegetables, jams and jellies, baked goods and craft items.

The Winter Market is located in the Council Chambers (200 South Holden).

There are lots of local places to shop in Warrensburg to find something special for your valentine. The Market on Holden is offering "bouquets" of chocolate covered strawberries. Or you can enjoy a special Valentine's Day menu at Monetti's on Culton Street!

As a UCM alumni, I can attest that the University of Central Missouri, in Warrensburg is a great place to attend college! UCM was formerly known as Central Missouri State University (CMSU) until 2006. I have fond memories and I received a wonderful education at UCM, which prepared me to go on to attend Law School. Many people view Warrensburg as a college town; however, it is more than that! The local community embraces the college traditions and it is an absolutely fantastic place to live!

I just received an update that there are over 50 people in the UCM library parking lot and Sheppard Park located in Warrensburg collecting Pokemon. My daughter has discovered several jewels while she was out. This is a popular game.
