Union Station is in the heart of downtown Kansas City. It is a sight that everyone has seen and a building that everyone knows all too well. Union Station is free to enter, however, food and amenities inside of the Union Station do cost extra. Union Station is one of only two places where the Auschwitz exhibition is being held at. This exhibition goes through January of 2022. Union Station also features a planetarium, Science City, a model train gallery, and two theaters. Sightseers can catch a great view of Union Station with a downtown background by going to the WW1 Museum across the street and looking down on the city!

As part of the Restaurant Group, 801 Chophouse, is a unique, upscale dining experience for any date night with your sweetie or Sunday night dinner for your entire family. With locations in Leawood, KS, and downtown Kansas City to Des Moines, Denver, and Omaha, as well, check out their offerings and story. From what I can tell online, the menu looks amazingly yummy from Lobster Corn Dogs (who doesn't love a corndog?) to Maytag Bleu Cheese Potatoes, to Chicken Chop. In addition to all sorts of cuts of beef with accompanying sauce choices, you cannot go wrong. I know 801 Chophouse is on my list for the holidays, why not add it to yours as well? Enjoy!!

In honor of the brave and selfless men and women that served our beautiful country, The National WW1 Museum will be offering discounts beginning November 7th - November 11th. The day began with a Victory Jump this morning and a team who have served for America jumped out of a plane and parachuted to the Liberty Memorial lawn; very cool. A walk of dedication ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. Check out the website https://www.theworldwar.org/veteransday for more details. Celebrate our brave soldiers today!!! The fabulous National WWI Museum is a must-see for the entire family. The history, guides, and movie alone are fascinating. But, what brave men fought for our country and our freedoms.

We all need to remember our patriotic history, especially now, and how we as one country should be thankful for our freedoms. Land of the free and home of the brave! Be sure to go up in the tower so you can view the breathtaking silhouette of our downtown area. Enjoy!

Looking for a new place to venture out for a romantic dinner or double date night? Check out some of Kansas City's favorite places to meet. Some of these I have not yet had the pleasure of going to yet.

The Farmhouse is one I have been to and it's amazing with farm-to-table meals and new daily menu. The Rieger is another one that I have been to, partly because I have gone to The Manifesto, a speak-easy in the basement but I haven't dined there. Another establishment that I would like to try is Blvd Tavern. It's a gastropub that offers an eclectic menu including twice-fried chicken...that sounds fun and really healthy. Enjoy the list and trying new things. Support local!

Add these to your bucket list if you haven't already enjoyed these fabulous places. J. Rieger has amazing brunch and tours for the family. This list allows for fun and adventures from all over the city. I love Kansas City, and all of the history dates back to the Prohibition Era. You cannot go wrong with any of these ideas and venues. • It was a full house today at the Kansas City Public Library, Central Branch, where members of the KC Downtowners presented former Mayor Sly James with the Jim Davis Award. The KC Downtowners is made up of Kansas Citians who are passionate about the urban core. Celebrating their 20th anniversary, stories and photos were shared on how Downtown Kansas City has revitalized and flourished in the last two decades.

The neighborhood surrounding the downtown library, often referred to as the Library District, is one of my favorites. From condominiums including Union Carbide and 21 Ten, to restaurants/eateries like The Savoy at 21c, Milwaukee Deli and the newly opened Mildred's, the area continues to grow and change. I look forward to seeing more upcoming projects here.

  • Have you ever wondered about the USA currency? Where does it come from and how is it made? Well, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has a Money Museum that is free and open to the public. It is a great way to learn about the Federal Reserves role in our economy here in the USA. You will also be able to view a 27 pound gold bar, see the largest cash vault in the region, and have the opportunity to see the coin collection of former President, Harry S. Truman.
