There are more groupings of mineral water in Excelsior Springs than anywhere else in the world. Siloam Spring was the first of the mineral waters discovered here. This spring is responsible for the growth of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. The Hall of Waters was built as a Federal Public Works Administration project. Near the late 1950s and early 1960s, the Hall of Waters popularity and other spas and clinics began to decline. Today, the Hall of Waters houses several city offices, court and council chambers, a small museum, and a Visitor Center. In 1983 the Hall of Waters was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dubious Claims is located off Thompson Street just as you come into downtown Excelsior Springs. You must make plans to go. My husband and I had the opportunity to visit on a Friday evening and the place was buzzing with lots of folks who were in fun groups, families, couples, and solo people at the bar.

We ordered Bavarian Pretzels to begin with and I ordered the Elixir Stout while Andy had the WoodChux Wheat Brew. You can't go wrong with either choice and both are amazing. The main menu is filled with salads, pizzas, wraps, specialty sandwiches (the Capone will make your night), and pasta. Skyla's Mac & Cheese is second to none, you must try that! Your night will be made! Enjoy yet another local must-go-to here in the Kansas City Area.

I drove through Richmond the other day; this is a nice little town that has a lot of character. David Whitmer's home site is located right down town. The home is no longer there; it has long since been torn down and another business building has been erected in its place. Richmond is not a very big town so this location will not be hard to find. Not far from the David Whitmer's home site is a graveyard where you can find the Monument for the three witnesses. I visited both places and found the Cemetery a little more satisfying if you are looking for historical places in Missouri. At the cemetery you will find the three witnesses monument but also several graves from the early settlement of the area. These grave stones have weathered a lot and some are broken up; so they are encased in a larger block of cement. At the monument there are two different markers that explain what has happened to the area. This is a beautiful cemetery and well taken care of. It is well worth the trip to see.
