Longview Lake is one of my favorites. It is easy to get to and close to the house. At the main dock and boat ramp of Raytown Rd., there's a shop for supplies, snacks, and even fish food to feed the thousands of carp hanging out by the dock. One of the greatest discoveries after moving here was going and feeding the carp and ducks at Longview Lake. It's hilarious; Ava's cheap entertainment! They have boat rentals and fishing supplies. They're always friendly there.
I try to get out on the lake to kayak as much as possible. This week I saw an eagle, Canadian geese, cranes, and a little snake sunning himself in the rocks. The fish were jumping out of the water porpoise-style, putting on a show.

I want to say that Chipotle has leveled up since the last time I went. I had stopped going to the Grandview Chipotle because they were giving significantly less food in there than before, and the customer service had diminished since opening.

The amount of food has increased (not back to the pre-pandemic amounts), and the service has become better. Sometimes they still try and skimp on the good stuff. Chipotle-hack...they won't charge for extra beans, salsa, or some of the other sides as long as you don't go overboard asking for extra everything! Ordering ahead is a smart move, as there is always a line.

Can I just say...I love this place. I hadn't been in a while, since the remodel and the pandemic. I ran in to grab a quick DVD for a movie night and ended up staying and talking with the two librarians. They were knowledgeable and fun to talk with. The building is so much nicer and roomier since the addition.

If you have an extra 15 minutes, stop by and check it out. Walk around and talk to the librarians and the visitors, and get your recommendations for the next book or the next movie. And don't forget to check out the calendar and hit up some of the classes and events.

My wife and I went to brunch at the Housewife Cafe this morning. One of the best little cafes around! Their specialties are their phenomenal soups; today's was the Pickle Dill Soup everyone said "If you like pickles, it's great - Strangely, It works. My personal favorite is the Almond (Marzipan) Crescent! It has a slight cherry flavor. And they have a fun little display of items for sale including cookbooks, Oatmilk Chocolate Bars, and Camp Cocktail starters. Located on Main Street in Grandview. I'll see you there.
  • Prefix Coffee is a hidden gem in the Grandview area. This cozy coffee shop serves delicious coffee and tea, along with a variety of pastries and, my favorite, their breakfast burritos. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating. They always have two or three seasonal drinks using their signature syrups or flavored honey. The coffee itself is exceptional, roasting it in the back. The shop also offers a small retail area where you can purchase t-shirts, books, and coffee-flavored candles. Overall, Prefix Coffee is a must-visit spot for anyone in the South Kansas City area looking for great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere.

Housewife Café and Bistro is a great spot that we found just venturing into downtown Grandview. Housewife Café and Bistro is a great spot to have your perfect drip, pastry, or sandwich. A cute vibe with an urban cafe feel.

  • One reason I was excited to get a puppy was to take her to the local dog park in Grandview, right off Byars Rd. It is a beautiful, quiet, fenced in park where one can enjoy the time with their fur babies or read a good book while their babies make new friends. If you haven't been to this dog park in Grandview, I highly suggest it!
