The Saddle Ridge equestrian area on the east side of the reservoir has about 32 miles of marked trails available to horseback riders.

Hillsdale Lake is one of the newest and best reservoirs in Kansas. Completed in 1982, the lake is a popular spot for boating, camping, fishing, nature walks, family get-togethers and more. The state park has great trails for hiking and horseback riding alike. Cabins and campsites are available and easily reserved over the phone or the internet. Water and electric hookups are available and a camp host is available during the summer months.

Hillsdale Lake is popular with fishers of all ages. Crappie, walleye, wipers, sauger, saugeye, catfish, large mouth, striped & white bass and other fish populate the lake and make for great fishing. The park also features a new marina and ample loading ramps. Recent news flashes include: the new archery range is open as is the new rifle, pistol and shotgun range. Hours for the range are Saturdays 10:00am to dusk. Sunday 2:00pm to dusk. The swimming beach is now open for enjoyment as is the shower house.

Hillsdale State Park is just minutes from great food and shopping available in the city of Paola. Many beautiful homes surround the area and are sometimes available for purchase.
