Had an amazing time at Main Event over Spring Break. We paid $10.95 a person for unlimited play in the arcade. Make sure to check out their website specials. We arrived around 4:30 p.m. and it wasn't too crowded. By the time we left it was getting busy but they were doing a good job of regulating play times so that there was not a huge line at each of the games. Tons of food choices and lots of places to sit so that parents can keep an eye on their kiddos while they play.

  • Gillihan Periodontics is conveniently located just off 291 north of I-70 about one mile. I have been going to Jan Gillihan for several years now. Finding myself in need of on going oral surgery it has kept me going there quite often over the past few years... I highly recommend her if you should ever find yourself or a loved one needing Periodontal care. She is very kind when it comes to her patients and even how she treats her staff should be mentioned. I have included a link to her Website for your convenience. Best Wishes to you.

So, I have personally been taking my animals to this practice since about 1980 and this facility had been in business long before that. I was from Grain Valley back then, recently moved to Independence, just bought my first (of many to come) fur babies. I had the good fortune to get referred to this vets from friends and family and I have been going ever since then. I moved to Pleasant Hill for a time, but after a couple of visits out there to other offices, I had to make the drive back to Independence when ever my fur babies needed care. Independence Animal Hospital has basically been the only place I have used my entire adult life, so for over 30 years now. We now live in Independence once again and continue to appreciate the caring loving practice that the doctors are passing down generation to generation. Our fur babies receive excellent care at affordable prices!

I have been donating for just over a year now (this time) and have really gotten to know the staff. I’m always greeted and made sure the instructions are clear. This is a clean and organized place to donate. I highly recommend it if you wish to do something nice, and earn a few bucks. The donation compensation is very reasonable and like I said, a friendly and helpful staff.

Are you a fan of hummingbirds? I am. I can just sit around and watch them for hours because I find hummingbirds fascinating! I recently found out that there will be a Hummingbird Festival in Independence at George Owens Nature Park on September 8th at 9:00 a.m. Needless to say I am excited about it! It’s an opportunity to see hummingbirds swarm to over 50 hummingbird feeders. It’s also a chance to listen to experts talk about these amazing birds. There will also be fun activities, games, and crafts to enjoy. This is a free event.

"Let the Good Times Roll" is the motto for Jazz Kitchen Cajun restaurant in Independence! This restaurant chain has been around for 25 years and has been in Independence for under a year. The food is authentic to what you would find in Louisiana and there is a live band playing most of the time. They have locations originating in New Orleans to five locations in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. This food is very good. I ate the Blackened Chicken Fettuccine! It was spicy but delicious! Give this place a shot!

Vivilore is a fine dining restaurant, art gallery, and antique store with a stunning courtyard. The food and drinks are delicious, and the space is absolutely gorgeous. This hidden gem is located in the Englewood Art District right off of Winner Road.
  • The Vets at this animal clinic really care for your pets. I personally have four dogs and I trust the care this office provides. They are very reasonably priced and accommodating to your schedule.
  • If you have driven through Independence on Interstate 70 lately, you may have noticed that Independence Event Center has changed it's name and received a make-over.

Last fall, The City of Independence and Spectra By Comcast Spectator, the providers of Venue Management and Food Services and Hospitality to the center announced a new partnership with Silverstein Eye Centers. The Center now has a new name, new signs on the exterior and interior, and a new website, (www.Silversteineyecentersarena.com), and a new agreement/partnership with the Missouri Mavericks and Missouri Comets.
  • Developers have really taken interest in this area southeast of Independence on Interstate 70 and U.S. 40. This area already includes "The Falls" Bass Pro Shop. Since the development of Bass Pro Shop, the biking and walking trails, and Waterfall Park, this area has really started to stimulate more and more attention. Now including Cheddars, Pizza Ranch, Slim Chickens, and the opening last March of the new Hotel Stoney Creek and the recent opening of The Main Event, developers are pursuing more opportunities.

Los Cabos might be the largest restaurant that the City of Independence has ever had at over 10,000 square feet, creating jobs for over 100 full-time and part-time employees. It will seat over 400 patrons and have a lively and cheerful atmosphere with the entertainment of their own Mariachi Band, face painting, and balloons. I am sure there will be a few sombreros hanging around.

I imagine it will be gorgeous, weather permitting as the location will be on the lake where Bass Pro Shop and Stoney Creek sit. The Cabana will face the waterfall.

The Company that owns Los Cabos Mexican Grill and Cantina is 6 B's Restaurant Management Group that is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
  • Bass Pro Shop is not only a high end retailer of all things an avid and passionate outdoorsman or woman could dream of, it is also a very enjoyable family atmosphere. Tastefully done and very well organized, I will have more pictures and videos to come. There are outdoor scenes, aquariums, and a fine Seafood restaurant, Islamorada Fish Company.
