The Louisburg Cider Mill is one of the most popular attractions in the county. It is a working cider mill that has been in operation since 1977. The mill produces fresh apple cider and other apple-based products, such as apple cider donuts, apple butter, and apple cider slushies. One of the unique things about Miami County is its rich history, dating back to the early 1800s. The county was named after the Miami Indian tribe, which once inhabited the area. In the mid-1800s, the area became a popular spot for settlers, and several towns were established, including Paola, the county seat, in 1855.

Fall is a very busy time of year for anyone who farms, raises livestock, or gardens. As the growing season draws to an end we start to see cooler temperatures, leaves falling, and shorter days- meaning less daylight hours to work in! If you are considering making a move to start or expand your garden, farm, or hobby don't overlook Miami County. Homes and land can be purchased for a very reasonable price, and you can stay within 20-30 minutes of the city!

It is most imperative to know that when your senior loved ones reach a crossroad in their lives that there are highly qualified, skilled facilities available to handle their special needs. I know this from first hand experience. Someone close to me was recently unable to take care of their daily needs and my family had to make a tough decision to help facilitate that daily care.

Louisburg Health Care and Rehabilitation was available to meet those needs until they were strong enough to move into Vintage Park, an assisted living community, which is also in Miami and Johnson County. The care they receive from both facilities is outstanding. They have received the individual care and the personal attention combined with a sense of comradery that was important to them and our family at this stage of their life. It is comforting to know when moving to a new community that these services are available to our loved ones when the time comes.
