    Electronics Recycling
    Just one of the many perks of living in the City of Parkville is happening this Saturday at City Hall.
    On Saturday, February 2, City Hall is hosting an electronics recycling event that is free to residents. From 9:00 a.m. to noon (or until the truck is full) bring anything with a cord or battery to be disposed of. What a great service this provides to our community! I have at least three items that I will be bringing to the event. If you have any questions, give City Hall a call at 816-741-7676.

    Wow! There are now four women's boutiques in Parkville that are all within about a mile from Pinecrest. In Parkville Commons, alone, there are two great shops with lots of unique options: Twill and Urban Trends. These shops offer trendy clothing, jewelry and gift items for us ladies of the Northland. In downtown Parkville, there is Sincerely, Ellis, which offers a wide range of basics and sizes. J. Quinn just opened up across Main Street. All four of these shops are locally owned, which is an even greater incentive to take the time to check them out the next time you are in need of a unique piece for your next date night, girls weekend or a wonderful gift.

    If you love to ride your bike but don't want to do it on the roads with all the distracted drivers, Pinecrest is very close to some great paved trail options. Just outside the neighborhood, you can go either north or south on Highway 9 to hook up with the Platte County trail system. Going north, hop on the trail at the intersection of Highways 9 and 45. If you take a right, the trail goes about 3.5 miles, until it intersects with the Line Creek Trail. From there, choose your route! There are miles of safe, tree-lined, paved trails for your riding enjoyment. If you instead go south on Highway 9, bike through downtown Parkville, then east on the English Landing Park Trail. Where the trail ends, you do have to get on Highway 9 for about a mile (there is a wide shoulder) before getting to the Riverfront Trail. This trail is paved and takes you to the levee in Riverside and loops back to the Line Creek Trail, which you can take all the way home. All in, you have a great 16 mile loop! No need to load your bike on the car in search of trails. Pedal away!

    Pinecrest subdivion is tucked just off of Highway 9 in Parkville. This unassuming, private neighborhood offers well-maintained homes, neighborliness and very close access to almost everything you need. Just across Highway 9, a resident could go to the doctor at Mosaic Lifecare, see a dentist, get a massage, a haircut, you name it! There are at least three gym options: Platte County Community Center South, Laz Fit, and Hitch Fit. Restaurants abound and with the construction of the new Ace Hardware, there are two hardware stores within a 1/2 mile. Parkville Commons offers two clothing boutiques, two nail salons, a public library, grocery store, and city hall, to name a few. The comparative affordability of the neighborhood is another welcome feature for residents looking for an excellent school district in a great location!
