I absolutely love the vibe the River Market provides, and if you're like me you will too. Not to mention the Opera House is a new favorite go-to! I picked up my hot herbal tea on a very rainy day, and was greeted with smiles and warm welcomes.
  • Nestled on the northeast tip of the River Market, Le Fou Frog was one of the only landmarks when they opened their doors 25 years ago, in 1996. This fabulous staple serves fresh French cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Whether sharing hors d'oeuvres and cocktails with friends, or a romantic night out with a special someone, Le Fou Frog can offer a charming experience.

Bar K is a must experience for the whole family including your pup. This unique and intriguing place is a combo of an inside/outside dog park with a coffee shop, bar, and restaurant. It's located on the river under the Heart of America Bridge and offers spectacular views of the 'Ol Missouri River while enjoying your puppy!

There is a lot of fun to be had in the River Market. From concerts, to great places to eat and shop, to the Super Bowl Parade, the River Market is a great place to be. There's a lot of benefits to living in or around the River Market. Catch the streetcar to Power and Light or Union Station. Shop for fresh produce at the farmer's market. Grab a bite to eat at a variety of excellent restaurants, some fancy, some extremely casual. There's always something going on!

The River Market, also known as the City Market, is my favorite place to hang out when it's nice outside on a Saturday morning. There's delicious food to eat, fresh produce to pick up, local vendors selling their wares, fun activities for the kids, and lots more. Check out the Youtube video link to see how awesome it is.

If you have never eaten at IL Lazzarone Neapolitan Pizzeria in the River Market, make plans today to go. Sit on the patio and enjoy your stone fired pizza (that is soooo yummy and only baked for 90 minutes) and a cold beverage and take in the wonderful feeling of downtown in our beloved Kansas City. You will not be disappointed. Let me know how you like it!

I love riding the Kansas City Street Car. I take advantage of this free ride whenever in the City Marker/Crossroads/Crown Center area. However, during the holidays it's even extra special as you can jam to some free live Christmas music while riding the street car during select date and times. The music will include some traditional Christmas songs as well as covers and even some original music by local Kansas City artists. Some of the Christmas music styles you can experience are traditional, rock, country, folk, western swing, jazz, classical, and zydeco. Visit the Kansas City Streetcar website for specific dates and times.

Chaddy Shack is located off 3rd Street by the River Market in downtown Kansas City. This place is family friendly and has no frills but fun and is totally laid back with awesome Sicilian-Style pizza.
You will love this little local place and it's great for happy hour and has a full line of beer. Service is fast and nice. Such a great place! Check it out!

The River Market is an amazing place, but it gets even better on the weekends! The River Market holds a Vintage Sale every weekend (weather permitting). This event includes up to 60 vendors who have antiques, vintage items, collectibles, and a variety of gently used and unique items for sale. You just never know what you might find. However, with the great assortment of vendors, there should be something for everyone. The Vintage Sale is open during the regular Farmer's Market hours.

If you enjoy antiques, you will enjoy River Market Antiques which is a 30,000 square foot building with over 175 dealers just two blocks from the River Market. Enjoy a wide variety of antiques and many different vintage items. The four floors are filled with vintage/antique items ranging from jewelry, clothing, pottery, glassware, statues, and so much more. There are many dealers so be prepared to spend quite a bit of time at River Market Antiques if you want to see all it has to offer.
  • The River Market has a lot to offer. However, I think it has some of the best places to eat. While strolling the River Market you might want to check out some of these eateries: The Farm House (farm-to-table comfort food),Harry's Country Club (great Happy Hour), Baby Cakes (gourmet specialty treats), The Bite (very tasty Mexican-Korean eatery), City Market Coffee (perfect cup of coffee), and Beignet (New Orleans style dishes).
  • Beignet is a Louisiana themed eatery in River Market that is a hit with my family. They serve crepes, red beans and rice, jambalaya, gumbo, muffaletta, creole, Andouille sausage, and many more Cajun dishes. However, don't fill up! Save room for their delicious beignets! I've tried many and have not been disappointed! They also have gluten-free options.
  • The summertime and the Kansas City River Market go hand-in-hand! Enjoy the summer outdoors at the famed KC Farmer's Market buying fresh fruit fruits and vegetables, having a diverse dining experience, enjoying some Summit BBQ, doing yoga in the Park, riding on a street car, and just taking in the fresh summer air!! It's a great way to spend time outdoors in a fun environment!
  • I have been fortunate enough to attend the Arabia Steamboat Museum several times due to school field trip events. It did not disappoint either time. If anything, I liked it even better the second time. The Arabia Steamboat Museum contains artifacts that were salvaged from a steamboat named Arabia that sank in 1856, in the Missouri River. This 30,000 square foot museum claims to have the largest single collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world.

You will be amazed at the excellent condition of these artifacts. You will find out what they had to do during the excavation process to preserve the ship and artifacts that the ship contained. The process that they have to follow today to keep these artifacts in their superb condition and the history of the ship will also be explained. Some of the collection of thousands of artifacts that were preserved that were part of the daily life of the frontier such as clothes, shoes, knifes, hats, food, dishes, and more are on display for you to view.

Do you enjoy yoga? Do you enjoy the outdoors? Then Yoga in the City Market Park on Sunday mornings could be something for you! Sunday mornings (May through August) at 9:00 am, the KC Yoga Center offers a free 60-minute yoga class. Don't forget to bring your own yoga mat or blanket. This is a great way to start your morning and get your body moving!
In case of inclement weather, Yoga in the Park will be moved to the KC Yoga Center just east of the City Market Arch.
  • One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon is to go to the Kansas City Farmer's market. We have the regions largest Farmers Market right here in Kansas City! The atmosphere, the food, and the people are just amazing! There are 140+ vendors available where you can purchase items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of meats, spices and herbs, beautiful cut flowers, and home-made baked goods and sweets just to name a few. If you are unable to make it to the Farmers Market on the weekend, they also have the Wednesday Mini Market on Wednesdays.
  • For the last two years Betty Rae's Ice Cream Shop has sold delicious treats in the Waldo neighborhood. Now they are expanding and will open a shop for the 2018 Summer season at 412 Delaware St, Suite D. The Kansas City street car stops out front too.The shop will offer all the frozen treats you and your family are used to plus a few surprising twists. There's a wide variety of dining and other shopping options nearby as well. The area is a perfect place for a family day or evening out.
  • This place is locally owned and makes the most delicious food! I remember when they opened in 2008 and I had my first burrito that very first week. They steam the cheese on the burrito wrapper before loading it up, brilliant! I don't think any other burrito joint does that. They obviously buy fresh veggies every day being located right in the City Market on the northwest side. The prices are very reasonable too but the lunch line can get a little long, so get there early!
  • My favorite place to eat in the River Market is the Blue Nile Cafe. They serve authentic Ethiopian Cuisine for lunch and dinner. The lunch buffet is the bustiest time and my personal favorite time to eat there. The food is a mix of spicy and mild and there are options for vegans as well as more traditional pallets. They also hold cooking classes and have bread and spices to go if you want to try making Ethiopian cuisine yourself. It's really some of the most mouthwatering comfort food I ever eat. Try The Blue Nile Cafe soon!
  • The Beyond the Loop project is well into the planning stages. The time for community feedback is now! The online survey below is the perfect chance to start voicing your opinion on how you want the downtown area to grow.
