With its rich history, preserved historic buildings, and scenic surroundings, Weston is known for its quaint and charming atmosphere.

Founded in 1837, Weston was an important frontier trading post and river port during the mid-19th century. It prospered due to its strategic location along the Missouri River, which facilitated trade and transportation. The town was a significant stop on the Oregon and California Trails, as well as a prominent supply point during the Civil War.

Today, Weston has retained much of its historic character and is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can explore the well-preserved 19th-century buildings, including brick storefronts, houses, and churches, which offer a glimpse into the town's past.

One of the town's notable landmarks is the Weston Brewing Company, established in 1842, which claims to be the oldest brewery in Missouri. It produces a variety of craft beers, including traditional German-style lagers. The brewery offers tours and tastings, allowing visitors to learn about the brewing process and sample their beers.

The town hosts various festivals and events throughout the year, such as the annual Applefest, which celebrates the region's apple harvest with live music, crafts, and food.

Nature enthusiasts can enjoy the scenic beauty of Weston. The town is surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and farmland, providing opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and picnicking. Nearby, Weston Bend State Park offers stunning views of the Missouri River valley, along with trails for hiking and wildlife observation.

In addition to its historical and natural attractions, Weston has a selection of charming shops, restaurants, and bed and breakfast establishments. It's small-town ambiance and friendly community make it a delightful destination for a day trip or a weekend getaway.

Overall, Weston, Missouri, offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a captivating destination for visitors seeking a step back in time and a taste of small-town charm.

Last weekend my husband and I celebrated our 18th Anniversary and dined at one of our favorite places to eat, Avalon Cafe, located on the corner of Spring and Main Street overlooking the town and river in Weston. It offers an American Bistro fare from Elk strip loin to fabulous burgers to baked brie with fruit. Last visit I had encrusted, blackened salmon with spaghetti squash and mashed potatoes. Yum! We ended our dinner with the best dessert ever, Chocolate Pillars in Thunderclouds. It's a yummy as it sounds. Put Avalon Cafe on your bucket list and go enjoy the locally owned and operated jewel in Weston! Enjoy!!

It's been several years sine I have been to Weston State Park. Riding our motorcycle, I thought it seemed like a great day to explore. It has grown up considerably with more trails than we remembered. A play area for children with swings appeared midway through. The old tobacco barn still stands. The overlook to the Missouri River is fabulous. The trees were aglow with fall colors as we rode through. Take some time to enjoy any day you can get away.
