    Old West Lawrence
Old West Lawrence is one of Lawrence's oldest and most historic neighborhoods. In Lawrence's early days, this was where the "who's who" of Lawrence lived. In 1863, it was a main target of Quantrill's Raid that left much of the neighborhood and the town in ruins. From the subsequent rebuilding, the neighborhood reclaimed it's prominence as the place for KU professors and deans, doctors, lawyers, and other influential Lawrencians.

Over the years, the neighborhood has resisted most of the decline that has targeted other nearby neighborhoods. The homes here are grand and imposing, and many have been meticulously cared for or refurbished to their original splendor. Some of Lawrence's most notable and unique homes still can be found here, even after years of the town's westward expansion. Interest in the neighborhood as a prime destination continues its renewal as residents have poured investment dollars into their homes to maintain their curb appeal, their historical integrity, and their interior beauty.

Nearby Downtown Lawrence remains the heart of the town. Recent new developments, along with the reconstruction of the city library ensure that the citizens of Lawrence refuse to abandon their beloved Downtown. The restaurants, shopping, museums, nightlife, and year-round entertainment are renowned and known state-wide, and it's all just a few minutes' walk from Old West Lawrence.

Old West Lawrence is an incredible place to call home and will continue to be many years to come. For those who want to live in a place with crucial history, unmatched beauty, and all the amenities of Downtown living, there is no better choice.
