The 33rd annual Snake Saturday Parade and Festival is on Saturday, March 11, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Don't let a little snow keep you away from the festivities celebrating St. Patrick's Day! This event is always held the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day, and this year's theme is "Leaping Leprechauns". Northland charities benefit from funds raised. Don't forget to wear green!

North Kansas City is rapidly becoming one of the coolest places in the Northland. Microbreweries, great dining, and now pickleball is becoming one of KC's hottest sports. Chicken n' Pickle is located at 18th and Burlington. Great food, indoor/outdoor pickleball courts, beer garden, bocce ball and corn-holes. Its the best new entertainment venue in Kansas City. Jason and I and our two boys, age 11 and 13, play regularly. This venue is near the very popular Northgate Village community.

First Christian Church of North Kansas City has been offering the NKC high school students a free hot dog lunch every Wednesday since 2005. Numerous, committed volunteers make this possible. In the summer, they keep on going by offering a meal to the homeless in the community.

North Kansas City has been called the Brookside of the Northland. A quaint little city just under 5 square miles total. There is a police officer for every two blocks. North Kansas City is also known for events like the annual Snake Saturday Parade the Saturday prior to St. Patty's day. Over 80,000 people have attended this one event. They have an amazing children's library and the summer features the sounds of live music coming from numerous parks and other outdoor venues.

Did you know the Vivion Road YMCA will be moving to the North Kansas City Community Center at the beginning of 2015? This is very exciting news! The Vivion Road YMCA will then be branded the North Kansas City YMCA.

The Vivion Road Y is one of the oldest in the area so the move to the like-new facility in North Kansas City will be an incredible transition for the Y and its members. I have had my membership at the Y on Vivion for almost a year now and I absolutely love it! The Y has an incredible team and they always make me feel at home. I feel this transition to North Kansas City will do great things for the community. Once moved over, the North Kansas City YMCA will become the largest in the region! In addition, there is talk of the North Kansas City Hospital collaborating with the Y to have a medical wellness partner on site. This is all exciting news for North Kansas City and as a local resident I look forward to watching the community grow!

Simple, traditional, small town values with big city amenities can be found lining the streets of "Northtown". Summer brings a host of community activities. One of my favorites is Friday in the Park. Beautiful Macken Park, located just a couple of blocks from North Kansas City High School, becomes the place to be on Friday at lunchtime. Free concerts are offered to all at the Festival Pavillion located in the park. This year boasts music of all genres. Enjoy jazz, latin, ragtime, big band sounds and much, much more. Just another bit of charm offered by the city of North Kansas City bordering the Missouri River. So, add it to your summer calendar of fun activities to do!

This great facility has added yet another face lift to North Kansas City. It boasts the newest state of the art equipment for your work out routines. All of your typical cardio and weight lifting can be found along with a multitude of fitness classes and customized personal training. This center is clean and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Sparkling pools are beautifully maintained and the little ones love the indoor water park and playground. The lazy river float is one of the most popular attractions. And if you are just looking for a way to kick back and relax, take advantage of the on-deck warm water spa, steam room, or sauna. Don't forget to look into scaling the rock wall! Equipment is provided by the facility and it is quite a work out in itself. Take the family down on a day pass before you buy a membership and see the many opportunities the North Kansas City Community Center has to offer.

Are you a person who reminisces about the "good ol' days"? You remember those days when you sat on your front porch "drinking cherry cokes and everyone knew your name" If so, the city of North Kansas City is the place you need to visit. It has neighborhoods where each house claims its own personality and is not built exactly like your neighbor's next door. The tree lined streets around North Kansas City High School bring back thoughts of Ozzie, Harriet, David and Ricky. You are in walking distance to shopping and quaint eateries and a community center next to none. North Kansas City: they still make 'em like Grandma did!

North Kansas City is a wonderful city filled with beautiful treed streets and the best park ever! This is a town where you can have the city bus pick you up at your front door. There is a small home-town store with all your needs, and the police even know the residents by name! Oh and did I mention the fantastic kid pool? The city is very proactive in maintaining the streets, curbs, trees, parks, and new sewer lines! The homes in the area range from older Bungalow style, newer Ranch style, newer townhomes with 3 levels, and also a brand new community of Row style homes with front porches and alleys. If you are a first time home Buyer, or looking for a unique townhome, or if you are retired and looking for a smaller home this area has it all. So much to choose from and so much to fall in love with! What an affordable place to own a home.

North Kansas City is NOT Kansas City North. North Kansas City is its own city just north of the Missouri river. It is the Brookside of the Northland. There is a policeman for every two blocks of this quaint little utopia. Great pubs and food here. We love it!
