From the Manhattan area and in the mood for camping on the same weekend as Country Stampede? Well, that eliminates Tuttle Creek Lake! So I ventured south to Council Grove Lake for a wonderful day at the lake. About 46 minutes south of my hometown, just off Highway 177, is a gorgeous lake with boat ramps, campgrounds, fishing, trails and a swimming beach - and there's probably more which I didn't have time to explore! Need to run to town? Council Grove is a quick five minutes away. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Ray's Apple Market there - and someone took my groceries out to my car. Gotta love that service! I may have Tuttle Creek Lake out my back door, but I will be back to visit you again.
