Kent Parnell was a new resident of Nixa in 2012. He had moved here from California with his family and was considering his options. His father suggested to him that he might consider starting a sign company and thought Kent would do well because of his business degree and background.

Kent opened 24 Hour Signs in November of 2012! It is located at 611B W Mt Vernon Street in Nixa. The business specializes in signs and banners that can be completed in "24 Hours" with already approved art work. He ran the business by himself in the beginning and did receive assistance from family members when he needed it, especially with larger orders! Kent stated that his dad's knowledge of manufacturing was extremely valuable!

As his business continued to grow Kent was able to buy out another company in 2014 and gained all of its equipment and expanded his current location. Kent now has three employees, is continuing to look at further expansion and his business is thriving. I am a customer of 24 Hour Signs and I appreciate the quality of the products and the timeliness of delivery!

Lady Bug Floral and Gifts has been a flower shop in Nixa since 2002. It was owned by Charlie Gray for 14 years. Recently, it was purchased by Rose Wilson, a local Nixa resident, and is operated by Rose, her daughter Kelly, and designer Pam. The building itself located on South Main Street is 104 years old and was originally a restaurant.

Rose is sprucing up the Floral and Gift Shop and their specialty is personalized unique arrangements and gifts to fit any budget! They carry locally made crafts throughout the seasons and design for both weddings and sympathy. Lady Bug Floral delivers to Nixa, Ozark, Clever, some areas of Rogersville, and Springfield. Please stop by to say hello and see the beautiful flower arrangements!!

The Walkabout Coffee Shop is located in North Nixa, at 160 and CC. It was named Walkabout by the owners as they lived in Australia for many years. When you enter the coffee shop you are greeted with a friendly Australian atmosphere! The menu includes perfectly roasted coffee, Australian food items (that are delicious), smoothies, and other specialty drinks. My favorite is the Skippy Mocha! The location is convenient and easy to find. Stop by and take a quick break in your day. You will be glad you did!

A local barber named Finis Gold started Nixa Sucker Day in 1957, and it has since been a longstanding tradition with the people of Nixa. Locals would often close up shop and skip school for the day to go grabbin' for Suckers. The fish were then frozen until there was enough for a big fish fry. Nixa Sucker Day was the result of this annual tradition. This event, is held in May, has a parade and provides fun for the whole family, along with good food and lots of entertainment!
