Can you believe this event started 20 years ago? What a fantastic way to celebrate a magnificent line of boats! Each year has its very own theme and this year will not disappoint: Gilligan's Island starts July 16 at 9:00 a.m. and ends on July 17at 5:00 p.m. The fun-filled day starts with registration at 9:00 a.m. with the first event at 1:00 p.m., the Poker Run!

This year's meal is provided by Flat Creek restaurant, followed by the Poker Run winners and raffle drawing. Get rested up, the following day will not disappoint!

Tie-up starts at 1:00 p.m.at Discovery Bay and ends at 5:00 p.m. This, in my opinion, is the best part of the event. Tie up to your neighbors for fun in the sun and party on the water. Don't forget your rope and bumpers!

2020 has been a year for the record books, but Shell Knob, MO has remained a very quiet and stable community throughout the pandemic. In March our small community filled up with people from larger cities that own lake homes. Why? "If I'm going to be quarantined and have to work from home, I'm going to do it somewhere peaceful and beautiful." We continued on as a small community that grew seemingly overnight.

We handled it in stride and with dignity as we welcomed our part-time homeowners. They soon became full time and we have enjoyed the extra community bonding. Our lake became busy much earlier than normal. March lake traffic appeared to be the same as July lake traffic. More people have opted to vacation where they can drive rather than fly. Our area is so wonderful and friendly that it was a breath of fresh air to have so many people living here throughout the year.

There are no guarantees what 2021 has in store, but I have no doubt that our small community located on the quiet side of Table Rock Lake will be ready for it.

Table Rock Lake is a great place to spend your 4th of July weekend. If being able to spend a hot holiday on the lake enjoying your favorite activity isn't enough, there are plenty of other things to do in the area. Of course, there is Silver Dollar City which is open with restricted access (please check to see those restrictions), as well as Branson, Eureka Springs, and the Wonders of Wildlife Museum in Springfield. One of my favorite places to visit is the College of the Ozarks. Besides offering young people a way to attend college at no cost, these students learn some real-life lessons. You can do your own walking tour and take in the war memorials, a three-level museum, and sample tasty items that they make on-site such as jellies, jams, pancakes, and biscuit mixes to name a few. They also have as candles, plants, and ice cream made from milk from their own dairy. You will be amazed at what this college offers. There is lodging on-site and great dining at the Keeter Center. Shell Knob has so many fun and family-friendly areas to visit and hang out on the lake. One of the local favorites is the swing at Shell Knob Bridge. It's located on the north side of the bridge right by the local Pizza Hut. On any given warm and sunny day, you can see people of all ages enjoying the fun of climbing up the rocky edge and swinging out over the water.

Another local favorite is Campbell Point Marina. They have a fabulous campsite and swim area. It also features the local favorite of Watson's on the Water, a great BBQ joint! The Marina itself has everything you could want including fishing gear, bathing suits, skis, snacks, beer, and ice cream. Come join us in Shell Knob, we would love to have you!

Shell Knob borders Table Rock Lake on the west side of the lake. We are a small community, but we have all the necessities - grocery store, pharmacy, post office, a medical clinic, dentist, optometrist, veterinarian, numerous places to buy fishing equipment and bait, and several boat dealers. What more can you ask for? It's a quiet place to be in the summer. Come check us out.

A little known amenity available in a very rural area is the Owens Community Center. It is a gathering place for residence that live out in the remote area several miles down Stallion Bluff Lane. It is utilized for picnics, family reunions, seasonal parties and an occasional wedding reception. It is very well maintained and the best part is that there is a landing pad for helicoptors just in the off chance that an emergency should occur. Shell Knob supports their community and wants all residence to be safe, no matter where they reside!

December 7 - Annual Tree and Star Lighting at the Senior Center - Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Shell Knob Elementary students will present their Christmas Program; Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to visit with the children and pass out stockings. There will be chicken noodle soup or chili and cookies to eat. The lighting will be at 5:30 p.m. Location 20801 YY-15 Road.

VFW Post Community Christmas events: On December 14 - Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.

On the quiet side of Table Rock Lake.....Shell Knob has a tremendous Christmas Tour of Homes. Each year the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce carefully compiles a list of elegant homes for tourists and locals to tour. Tickets are sold in advance at various businesses or can be sold the day of the tour. Shell Knob is well known for their local craft fairs. Each year around Thanksgiving Central Community United Church hosts a Holiday craft fair. Come enjoy the talents of Shell Knob and the surrounding area. Clothing, quilts, Christmas ornaments and decor are just a few to name. This years festivities will be held on November 16 and 17, 2018. The end of the summer season has arrived. No worries, there is still ample time to enjoy the splendor and beauty of Table Rock Lake. But, remember, always be aware of your surroundings, fellow boaters, and fishermen. Take a moment to review boating etiquette and remember to be safe! Our lake is big enough for everyone and being curious is number one. Have one life jacket for each person on board your boat, bring lots of water and sunblock and please don't drink and drive! The 31st annual Shell Knob Home Show is underway again. It is held at the local elementary school in Shell Knob and features dozens of local vendors showing off they're talents and trades. What a great way for the Chamber of Commerce to give back to their local community!

Trees are budding, daffodils and forsythias are blooming ~ what a beautiful season to start enjoying our lake. Table Rock Lake spans 43,100 acres of clean, clear water and has 745 miles of shoreline which spreads through the scenic, rocky and wooded Ozark Mountains. His House Foundation has been serving the Shell Knob community free meals every Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. for over one year now. This non profit organization serves these free hot meals with the help of many volunteers. Come see them!

It's time again for Shakin in The Shell! This event is Shell Knob's 11th annual celebration for people of all ages. Live entertainment throughout the day, food and commercial vendors, horseshoe throwing tournament, and a kid's area are among the many fun things to do. Come join us September 16th and 17th. The hours are Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It's going to be a great time!

This is the public boat launch area located in Shell Knob Missouri by the bridge. I personally love this launch because I have plenty of room to park our truck and boat trailer while we fish. Several fishing tournaments a year start from this launch.

There are four great marinas in this area. First, the Kings River Marina located near Shell Knob will open a new Italian Restaurant in May 2016. Next, the Big M Marina located in the Eagle Rock area has a new owner, Andy Stewart, who plans on revising the Dock and Eat menu in coming months. Then, there is Holiday Island Marina, located on the White River just inside Arkansas from Missouri, which now offers pizza and sandwiches. Finally, Eagle Rock Marina is rebuilding but will open with new facilities and docks in May 2016.

If you live or visit Shell Knob you cannot miss the Annual Fall Festival, Shakin' in the Shell. The event features something for everyone, vendors, live music, beer garden and much more. For my kiddos it is the kids area. They play all day on the inflatables, all of the games and booths. Hope to see you on September 20th, 2014 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Every year this area hosts a Fly-In at the Turkey Mountain Airstrip! It is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the area and add a little extra excitement with the planes flying in! This year the Fly-In is Saturday, August 2 at 9:00 am.
