Finding a restaurant open after lunch hours can be tricky sometimes in Dodge City . . . until you find Vallarta's on Wyatt Earp Blvd! Vallarta is open seven days a week and offers a full menu all day. Authentic and traditional Mexican dishes served with iced tea, soda, beer, or hand-crafted margaritas - they have Mexican sodas too!

A great menu for all ages and hunger needs includes appetizers, typical Mexican combination plates, and specialty dishes. I enjoy the Hawaiian quesadilla. It can be quite filling! The service staff is friendly, orders are taken quickly, and fresh hot food is soon to follow once your order is in!

After watching the infamous gunfight twice a day during open season, one can take the family into the saloon, get a sarsaparilla, and beers for those over 21, then walk down the boardwalk and visit the other original storefronts.

The real treat is to come in and cool off in the new gift shop. It has many items, from treats and drinks to clothes and cowboy hats. The ADA-compliant museum has many exhibits. Many of the exhibits are interactive and want to be touched (there will be signs if you can't touch them). All of the exhibits invite photographers of any experience level to get their best shot. One of my favorites is the buffalo stampede, but you'll have to experience it for yourself to see why!

Open season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. Boot Hill Museum underwent a major transformation in the last few years by building a new museum. The renovation did not change any of the original buildings from the late 1950s.

Red Beard Coffee is locally owned and operated by Dodge City native Clint Conant (aka Red Beard), who has been offering delicious coffee since 2017. One can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee; if timed right, one will get to see how coffee is made. Several times a week, Clint or another qualified team member will roast coffee beans, and the enticing aroma is quite a delight for the guests. Red Beard Coffee offers more than just coffee and signature coffee drinks. They have Italian sodas, teas, smoothies, and a not-so-secret menu if one is feeling adventurous.

A limited food menu includes breakfast items and a small merch section with proprietary T-shirts, stickers, coffee mugs, freshly roasted coffee and accouterments, and yes, even beard balm! The first location in downtown Dodge City has an intimate dining area with several tables.

A highly anticipated second location (drive-through only) will be open in the summer of 2023 on the north side of HWY 50 in the Waters Hardware parking lot.
