2 months ago my wife and I completed the purchase of our first home with the help of Christy Friesen, our realtor. At the close of our business relationship we wrote a small thank you note to her for all her time and help in making this dream and journey a reality for us without any stress. We intended to post a review for all our friends and potential clients of hers in the future to see and understand just how great of an experience you get when you work with Christy.
Full disclosure, the first time I spoke to her was on the phone from Boca Raton, FL. We had started looking at houses and a family member recommended her to us. I thought it best to meet and discuss ideas and run some thoughts by her. I had met some other realtors before and didn’t have a strong opinion one way or another. When we met for lunch once I was back in town, she was so gracious with her time and attention. She met us for lunch, took time to talk with us, let us ramble about what we wanted, and asked us questions to make sure our dreams weren’t too big. She then took more time out of her Saturday to walk through a few models in a neighborhood we liked in order to get an understanding of what we wanted to do.
Initially, we wanted to build in east Wichita. We started considering this and pursuing this option in October of 2017. We met with one builder and went through the journey far enough to receive quote and, despite knowing our budget, they came back with a price way out of what we told him we wanted. Even when we outlined a second time what our asks were and our price range was, the builder was difficult in responding and making an effort to work with us. But, despite having to deal with the frustration and the whole back-and-forth process, Christy stepped in and worked with the builder and their realtor for us. She was constantly in communication with us and updated us with every new detail she was gathering.
When this occurred, we had a bit of uncertainty as to how to proceed. We figured it was normal at this point for an agent to say, “Call me when you figure it out. Unless you know what you want to do and are going to make me money, then you aren’t worth my time.” She never did this with us, instead she reassured us of our options and told us anything we wanted to pursue she’d help with. Christy was seemingly never unreachable or unavailable to us, which spoke volumes to her dedication to our house search. It was at this point we decided to start looking at existing homes. We gave our parameters and she started showing us places.
While we looked at existing homes, we still continued discussions with another builder in the same development and tried to see if that was possible with a more flexible builder. While the new builder was lot more attentive too our needs, we ultimately decided that building now and in the area we were looking at was maybe a future step in home ownership, but not our first step. We resigned after months of investing in the possibility of building to, instead, purchasing an existing home.
We finally saw a place we liked and we quickly got in touch with her about the offer we wanted to make on the house and she helped the whole way through. Eventually that would be the house that would later become our first home.
That’s our story. At every step of the process, Christy is what anyone would want in an agent. She was open, and she always would make sure we felt comfortable being open with her, which made for a great working relationship. She was honest, she was never afraid to tell us, at any point in the process, what was going to need to be done and what her thought was and, believe me, we asked for her honest opinion A LOT as first-time home buyers. I went with a realtor I “didn’t know” so that I wouldn’t have to worry about offending a friend or family member when I needed to be blunt and get what I wanted, I never thought that this experience would cause us to be so close to her, she truly became a dear friend. Real friends, the kind you can be honest with, you can be blunt with, real with – she was that with us, and we with her. I can’t speak highly enough about her character but also the way she goes about her business, how absolutely on top of every detail she is. I took copious notes throughout the process, yet there were times, from the start of the relationship, even at our closing - where she remembered something I said and reminded me of it when it had totally slipped my mind. Realtors like this are rare, she instilled such a peace of mind for us throughout the process and made it so simple, easy, and as stress-free as possible. We can’t say enough good things about her. We consider it an honor and privilege to write this review for her, our only regret is that we can’t rate her higher than the limit of stars we have as an option, if anyone deserves a 10 out of 5 rating it’s her. Thank you Christy for making our first home purchase such an easy and a delightful experience!
