This is a great area of Kansas City. I attended this concert at Rosehill Gardens, 311 E 135th St, Kansas City, MO 64145. Somerset Winery from Paola, Kansas, has their second location in this beautiful space. The music was lovely, and there was a nice amount of people there to enjoy the wine and music. They have happy hour on Friday nights and are open Saturday and Sunday afternoons with live music. Great place to sit and relax and enjoy a glass of wine/beverage. The owners of the winery are warm and welcoming!

I have been a Kansas City area resident for over 40 years and I still can't get enough of this beautiful city. It may not have mountains and oceans, but it has so much more! Kansas City has a great atmosphere, wonderful vibe, exceptional people, amazing festivals and the most delicious food!! Whether attending a sports game and cheering on our KC Royals, KC Chiefs, or Sporting KC, or enjoying the sites around town such as Liberty Memorial, Union Station, Crown Center, or the Country Club Plaza you will feel at home. You can spend a day at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, attend a concert at Sprint Center, or take in all the talent at the Kaufman Center for the Performing Arts and just feel so inspired. There is just so much to enjoy about this great and diverse city. I just love it!
  • What a great program! On the first full weekend of each month in 2018, Bank of America or Merrill Lynch cardholders can get free admission to the World War I Museum and Science City, as well as many others across the nation. I just read about this and think it's a great idea!
  • This looks very interesting! I'm not able to go this Saturday, but this house would be very cool to see. Built in 1955 by the Zimmerman family, the house displays influences from both Japanese and European modernist architecture. See the link for more info about the tour.

I know we're not off to a great start, but I'm still excited that it's baseball season again! I can't wait to go a game and cheer them on. I love baseball.
  • I'm really looking forward to this festival on Sunday. I've been a couple times before and always really enjoy the performances. This year, I'm hoping to go to a presentation on beautiful saris, as well as one on chai tea. I love chai!

Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament is back at the Sprint Center this weekend. Great games ahead. Who will win it this year - KU, K-State, or Texas Tech? It's always exciting when something unexpected happens.

The KC Remodel & Garden show is this weekend at the American Royal. It looks like a great lineup of speakers, make & take seminars, feature gardens, and vendors. Maybe a good way to get some new ideas for your home!

This exhibit looks so cool! I can't wait to see it. Works of art created solely from Legos, by Nathan Sawaya. The photos look so interesting. It will only be here until the end of May, so don't wait to see it.

The Workhouse Castle is located at 21st and Vine in Kansas City. It was built in 1897 as the city jail. The prisoners were expected to work; the women sewed the prison uniforms and the men labored for the City's public works department. The prison itself was built by the prisoners with limestone mined onsite. The jail closed in 1924 and was used as a wedding venue, for Marine training and for city storage among other uses before being abandoned in 1972. Just a little of the fascinating history to be found around Kansas City.
  • The National World War I Museum is an interesting place to visit. Liberty Memorial provides awesome views of Kansas City, but the museum itself has several exhibits designed to educate us about World War I, also known as the Great War and War To End All Wars. When I was there a few years ago, there was a simple, yet very moving exhibit of poppy flowers denoting American lives lost during WWI. I recommend this museum for an outing, to learn more about this war and its repercussions.

Since opening its original location in Fort Worth, Fuzzy’s has expanded making its way to the Midwest and planting a location right here in Kansas City! Their Baja style tacos will leave you breathless, because you will most likely eat too many, haha.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has a full menu of “texmex”/Baja choices. You really have got to try the Shimp Tempura tacos! With fried shrimp, garlic sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro, and feta, (or made to order) they are hands down the best. Don’t forget to top them with Fuzzy’s Butt Burn’n Sauce, it’s truly the icing on the cake! If you like to step it up a notch, they now offer them in California Heat, adding bacon, avocado, pico de gallo and sriracha-lime sauce.

Fuzzy’s also offers large TVs for catching your favorite sports games and cold adult beverages to go along with those tacos.
  • This looks like another great event at the Nelson! Chinese dancers, acrobats, music, calligraphy, games, and so much more. This event takes place on Sunday, January 28, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in multiple areas at the Nelson. 2018 is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese zodiac. This event will be a fun and interesting way to learn more about Chinese art, history, and culture.
  • Restaurant Week starts today! Enjoy a fixed price, multi course lunch ($15) or dinner ($33). There are 148 participating restaurants! I plan to go to several different places over the next week. See the link below for a list of restaurants.

Spring training starts in mid-February. First game is March 29 at home vs Chicago White Sox. I can't wait for the new season to start. The Royals Stadium is awesome. The game experience there is excellent, with great views of the field and a fantastic crowd.
  • I went to this exhibit last November and hope to go again before it is done in April. It was a wonderful experience, to see this beautiful art and learn what inspired Picasso.
The Nelson is a lovely place. I visit a few times per year and wish I could go more often.

Like all major metro areas, Kansas City has pockets that need a little extra TLC. We have neighbors who have been through unimaginable struggles, and those who have survived the kind of hardships of which nightmares are made. But even in our darkest moments we have the light of hope in our bustling city, because of our residents!

Residents like the 350 real estate professionals who partnered with Habitat for Humanity to volunteer their time and resources to "Rock the Block" and renovate one such area. It is amazing how far a little paint, some yard work, and some handmade benches and flower boxes can go to brighten a neighborhood and bring new life to the city. As the mayor said when he kicked off the event, that kind of spirit is contagious. Neighbor helping neighbor, pride of ownership, and even business "competitors" coming together to make a difference when it counts, are just some of the things that make the Kansas City metro area a wonderful place to live and work!

I just had the pleasure of touring this brand new place! Feels like a combination between a classy hotel and a small apartment complex. Friendly staff focused on giving their residents a positive experience every day! I would highly recommend stopping by for a tour if you or a family member has been considering assisted living in the near future!

CVS will build a new 762,000 square foot distribution center at the Skyport Industrial Park near KCI in Platte County. This is expected to create more than 360 jobs in the region. The facility will service 370 CVS stores throughout the Midwest. The facilities location will allow the delivery drivers better access. They are expected to begin the building process in January 2017 and be operational in 2018.
  • Going to watch the Royals is always a great time. The fans and the stadium are electrifying! Check out the crowd gearing up for the boys in blue for the Royals vs White Sox game which was a Royal win!
  • On September 17th, 2016, after the Royals win the game against the Chicago White Sox became a special evening for our Royals, Ned Yost. This was his 1000th game win in his baseball career. He said he had two goals; one was to bring a world championship to a great city, and two was to win 1000 baseball games. He has accomplished both. Check out this special moment for Ned Yost in the video below. Go Royals!

It was a gorgeous start to the day at Kauffman Stadium, which turned out to be another win against the Chicago White Sox for our Boys in Blue! The "K" is always an awesome time no matter the season. The energy is always pumped up, even pre-game time. Check out the clip below. Go Royals!

First Fridays start at 5:00 p.m. and continue at the historic West Bottoms with vendors; including offerings of prized vintage goods and antiques. Plenty of exploration to do and lots of food and drink along the way! Explore this historic area and notice the old history blending with the new additions to the area. Never a dull moment; lots to explore and plenty of food and drink along the way!
  • I think we must have one of the most amazing baseball stadiums here in Kansas City. Kauffman Stadium or "The K" offers a plethora of food and drink options conveniently located throughout the stadium, and everything looks so clean and well organized. There are also some great little shops and kid’s activities behind the fountains. The K has many gorgeous water features as well. It gets my vote for a great outing with friends and family, and of course you'll get to see our boys in blue! Check out the video below for a sneak peek of Kauffman Stadium.
