I have lived in Parkville for 11 years and Kansas City for 14 years, and this week was the first time I took advantage of the Riverfront Park. Now I'm kicking myself!! What a pretty setting for a morning run, a bike ride, a walk, a picnic, you name it. Lots of festivals are held in the park in the summer months. With its proximity to the River Market and downtown, it is a prime location to burn some calories and then pack them back on at one of the restaurants nearby. I will definitely be making this venue a "regular" on my fitness location rotation.

Parkville has so many great holiday happenings each year, starting with trick or treating in downtown Parkville on Saturday, October 28. Take your kiddos downtown between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to visit all the participating local merchants. The shop owners love to see all the kids and costumes. You can leave the kids in costume and head north on Highway 9 from downtown to the Parkville Nature Sanctuary's Ghost Stores Night! This is a fantastic event for all ages and runs from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The festivities include a lighted jack-o-lantern trail, ghost stories, hot dogs and s'mores! Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

City of Parkville Public Works planned ahead and put sand down all over the neighborhood ahead of the ice. The streets were not at all slippery this morning, thanks to them. It's great knowing that my neighborhood receives this kind of attention.
