West Hills is a beautiful area on the west side, as far north as you can get and still be south of the Kansas River. It was developed in 1954 and has been popular ever since. Many of the homes have a mid-century modern flair and more-than-not are sprawling ranchers, mostly architect-designed and all different. As the name implies, it is west and the hilly streets are tree-lined. Cedar Crest, the Governor's residence, is immediately to the west and most of that area is open to the public, with ponds (fishing allowed) and trails for hiking or just sight-seeing or enjoying a beautiful day.
