Italian food that is a must for everyone to experience!! The atmosphere is comfortable, the staff is incredibly kind, and the food is incredible! Even the chef made his way around to the customers to thank them for coming in and to talk with them. I learned that they join many "elite" world competitions and rank at the top! Because of this, they help train other high-level Italian chefs in their ways of cooking. This restaurant is just off to the west of Buckner-Tarsney Rd in town at 312 S Hudson St. Just a short 10-minute drive (only about 8 miles) north of I-70 at the Grain Valley exit.

This week's showcase is at Catfish Charlies in Wellington, MO! Big servings and delicious! We weren't shy, ventured out, and tried frog legs and alligator. The original owner Charlie ran a successful business for 11+ years and sold it to the current owner. People from Lee's Summit, Raymore, and even Kansas make the drive to try Catfish Charlies; some even drove 2 1/2 hours just for their crab legs. Tons of leftovers and we left stuffed! Tuscono's in Buckner is a local business that serves amazing Italian food. The atmosphere is great, the staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious! If you like Italian food, you will definitely want to try Tuscono's!

This weekend, my family and I ventured out to Buckner to try a new restaurant that we had heard a lot of good things about. Being a big fan of pizza, pasta, and anything remotely having to do with Italian food, I had to check this place out! Our experience at Tuscono's Wood Fired Pizza and Pasta did not disappoint! Though we stuck mainly to the pasta side of the menu, we are big fans of wood fired pizza and will be back to try it again!

A few of the things that make Tuscono's unique are its warm, rustic charm and the feeling you get of an established family restaurant. Though they have only been open for under a year, you would think that Tuscono's is a very deeply rooted restaurant. Everything old is new again, from the old style brick wood burning pizza oven, to the decorations on the walls, to the flooring and even the tables that are made of reclaimed wood from around Northern Missouri and Iowa. The owner takes a lot of pride in his restaurant, and even invited us back to take a good look at the wood fired oven where he makes his pizza!

Tuscono's recently won the "Best of Eastern Jackson County" Award by the Independence Examiner Newspaper! Tuscono's is one small business that is part of a larger-scale redevelopment plan for downtown Buckner. The city of Buckner and Jackson County, MO are both doing a lot to redevelop and revitalize the smaller communities within the county.
