The fabulous National WWI Museum is a must-see for the entire family. The history, guides, and movie alone are fascinating. But, what brave men fought for our country and our freedoms.

We all need to remember our patriotic history, especially now, and how we as one country should be thankful for our freedoms. Land of the free and home of the brave! Be sure to go up in the tower so you can view the breathtaking silhouette of our downtown area. Enjoy!

Looking for a new place to venture out for a romantic dinner or double date night? Check out some of Kansas City's favorite places to meet. Some of these I have not yet had the pleasure of going to yet.

The Farmhouse is one I have been to and it's amazing with farm-to-table meals and new daily menu. The Rieger is another one that I have been to, partly because I have gone to The Manifesto, a speak-easy in the basement but I haven't dined there. Another establishment that I would like to try is Blvd Tavern. It's a gastropub that offers an eclectic menu including twice-fried chicken...that sounds fun and really healthy. Enjoy the list and trying new things. Support local!

It was a full house today at the Kansas City Public Library, Central Branch, where members of the KC Downtowners presented former Mayor Sly James with the Jim Davis Award. The KC Downtowners is made up of Kansas Citians who are passionate about the urban core. Celebrating their 20th anniversary, stories and photos were shared on how Downtown Kansas City has revitalized and flourished in the last two decades.

The neighborhood surrounding the downtown library, often referred to as the Library District, is one of my favorites. From condominiums including Union Carbide and 21 Ten, to restaurants/eateries like The Savoy at 21c, Milwaukee Deli and the newly opened Mildred's, the area continues to grow and change. I look forward to seeing more upcoming projects here.

It really doesn't get much better than this to get around the heart of Kansas City! In Kansas City we are fortunate enough to have a city that has provided us with free street car transportation that runs from the River Market to the north and Union Station/Crown Center to the south. The street car provides transportation to connect all the downtown neighborhoods by offering 16 platform stops on the two miles of street car track.

I have taken the street car many times and have met people from all across the United States. The common theme I hear from them is how nice it is that our city provides us with the KC Street Car transportation at no charge and how clean the street cars are. If you haven't had a chance to take advantage of this wonderful transportation, you need to do so!

I highly recommend checking out this new coffee spot on Broadway. The atmosphere is clean and sleek with a retro classy vibe. They use top-notch coffee beans and offer creative drinks that are beautifully yet simply presented. I highly recommend trying their tumeric latte as well for a non-coffee option. Be sure to check out their seasonal menu and try something new!

To celebrate all things Irish, several cities in the Kansas City area have Snake Saturday parades on the Saturday before St Patrick's Day. Fun filled experiences for all, with floats, bands, clowns, and more. Weather looks beautiful for tomorrow also, so it's a great way to spend a couple hours outside with friends and family.
  • This looks like fun! It's been happening for a while, the first weekend of each month, and is growing, so that more warehouses are included. Several warehouses in the historic West Bottoms open up on the first weekend of each month. Shop for those vintage and antique items that are so hard to find elsewhere. The warehouses restock each month, so we can go every month!
