Summit Grille is a product of our very own, Drew Lock and family, located in Lee's Summit. This locally owned restaurant will be opening December 2018. Make your holiday date nights here and enjoy this new American style delish restaurant. This place is a must go and enjoy some awesome items such as traditional pot roast or chicken fried chicken, my personal favorite. I cannot wait to try their new Salted Caramel Martini...oooohlala. Also, half priced bottles of wine every Monday night. Monday's can't get much better than that...

Drive by and get an amazing sneak peak of the KC Northand's hottest new watering hole with fabulous eats and yummy cocktails!!! Cannot wait to see you there!

The trend of “downsizing,” or moving to a smaller home, is still going strong throughout the country. It’s especially popular with people who are in or close to retirement, who have grown children who no longer live at home, or who desire a more urban lifestyle. Is downsizing right for you?

There are many benefits to downsizing, including: Reduced mortgage (or rent, if you decide to lease) payments, less of your time and resources need to be spent on maintenance, lower utility bills, more housing options, ability to live in different neighborhoods that might not have large homes available.

There are also some realities to downsizing that is helpful to think about before you make a decision.

You will have less storage space. At first, this seems obvious; it’s called ‘downsizing,’ after all. In our day-to-day lives, though, we often lose sight of how many things we store in closets, garages, basements, and even little-used rooms. Take a walk through your house as if you’ve never been there before. Make a mental note of the items you’ve stored, and consider if you are willing to either part with them or store them in an off-site storage unit if they don’t fit in your new home.

You may not be able to host overnight guests. Your new home might not have extra bedrooms or bathrooms, or it might be an open plan without full-height walls. This doesn’t mean you can’t have family or friends stay at your new home, but it means both you and they will need to have realistic expectations. Some people consider this an upside, because it provides an easy out when you don’t want to host!

The lifestyle might be different. Especially if you are moving to a different neighborhood or type of environment, there can be changes in noise level, number of people, amount of businesses near your home, and traffic. This can be exciting, but it can also be stressful if you’re not prepared for a change.

None of these have to be negatives, but you need to find the right fit for your lifestyle and goals. If you’re thinking about downsizing but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, I can walk you through the pros and cons that are specific to you.

Most people in America will agree that a burger isn't hard to find, but a great burger can be bit of a task sometimes. I've always been a fan of those dinners and dives, they always seem to have the deliciousness hidden away like you just discovered the best kept secret ever. Smitty's is a modern, local spin on a those kind of places. They offer a variety great tasting burger along with a full service bar and a fun, energetic atmosphere.

I met an old friend at The Classic Cookie for breakfast. I must say that I was blown away by several things: the stellar service, the kind workers and the most amazing breakfast tacos!

We were immediately greeted and told to be seated where we would like! Our waitress moved quickly but still went above and beyond for us the entire time we were there. I had another coffee after breakfast and enjoyed conversation with an old friend and never once rushed out, which I absolutely loved!

The workers were all kind and very attentive, which isn't very common anymore! And although they were packed we didn't go without!

My tacos were served on soft corn shells with scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, salsa and avocado cream sauce-mmmmm! I had fried home style potatoes that were perfection. And a full cup of coffee the whole time I was there.

I will definitely will be returning very soon!

There is an octagonal home in Kansas City in the Crestwood neighborhood that just absolutely stands out. Some refer to this as the Nichol House, which was built in 1964, by the well-known architect Bill Goff, for the Nichol family..The home also has large octagonal windows. The style of this home is known as organic architecture and has many people drive by to see this unique structure daily. At the center of the house is a great room that features an original Sputnik like satellite. The home also has a hexagonal sized swimming pool on the property.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hot, hot, hot right now. They are starting the season 4-0 and have great chemistry with a young and talented quarterback who is breaking NFL records! Arrowhead Sradium has always been a great place to experience professional football.

The Chiefs fans are like no other! Game day is an all day event! The true Chiefs fans are at the stadium four hours or more before game time for tailgating in the stadium parking lot and barbecuing (which you can smell a mile away) and just hanging out with family, friends and other Chiefs fans.

Arrowhead is already known as one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL and I have a feeling the fans are going to outdo themselves this year. Everyone is excited about the season! Definitely try and go watch a Chiefs game this year as I am confident you won’t be disappointed.

At the corner of 21st and Vine you will find what is left of a medieval-style castle that was built in 1897. It was originally built as a jail known as the “workhouse castle”. The name was given because prisoners at the jail were expected to work during their time in prison. The women typically sewed prison uniforms, while the men were expected to do work for the city public works department. The jail closed in 1924. Since then the building has been used for other things about a dozen times, including a Marine training center. The building was finally abandoned in 1972. Today, you can see that the Kansas City Workhouse Castle is crumbling apart. However, it has become a location where graffiti abounds everywhere. What was once a beautiful castle is now a shadow of its former self.

The Kansas City Zoo is a great place to visit on any given day. However, another great reason to visit the zoo during the first three weekends in October from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. is to experience the fun of Hoots and Howls. They have some spooky, but not quite scary, activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

You can try and make it through a hay bale maze, take a fun ride on the Scare-o-cel, sing along to songs with a DJ, ride on a pedal tractor, create some exciting crafts in the lobby, or take an adventurous hay ride around the zoo. Some of the zoo animals are even getting involved by smashing pumpkins throughout the day. Come visit the Kansas City Zoo to participate in this wonderful event.

Faukner’s Ranch is just about the best place to go if you’re looking for an extraordinary experience in a pumpkin patch. They are celebrating their 20th season and it seems as if they outdo themselves each year! You wouldn’t think a pumpkin patch would be a great place to purchase food, but I often hear people rave about their BBQ and also their pumpkin spice donuts. There is no lacking of attractions as they have over 20 fun filled activities for you to enjoy. Some you can appreciate are their hayrides, field maze, pony rides, petting farm, and Scarecrow-K. They also have a wide assortment of quality pumpkins to purchase. If you are looking for a venue for a corporate event, wedding, or birthday party, they offer packages that might just be just the fun outdoor experience you have been looking for. I was surprised to find out that Swope Park is actually bigger than Central Park in New York City. Swope Park consists of about 1,800 acres which is actually twice the size of Central Park! It is Kansas City's largest green space that includes soccer fields, several golf courses, scenic hiking trails, the Swope Park pool, ball fields, picnic and fishing areas, and an amazing treetop adventure park with zip lines and obstacles. The park also includes Starlight Theatre which is a spectacular outdoor venue that hosts musicals and concerts, Lakeside Nature Center where you can learn about native wildlife to Missouri, and the Kansas City Zoo which has world-class exhibits and attracts not just locals but people from around the world. Swope Park is a great place to explore!

I believe that Kansas City is one of the best sports towns with some of the greatest fans!
Kansas City is not a large city, by population, compared to the amount of big cities in the continental United States. However, we have an abundance of local sports teams to cheer on!
Our three major sports teams have all won championships!! We have major professional teams in the Kansas City Royals (baseball), Kansas City Chiefs (football), and Sporting Kansas City (soccer). We also have other sports teams that have many fans that support them: The Kansas City Comets (indoor soccer), Kansas City Mavericks (ice hockey), Kansas City Phantoms (indoor football), and the Kansas City T-Bones (baseball). If you enjoy watching sports, be sure to check out any of our sports teams and show your support!
