Brookside is a district in Kansas City with more of a relaxed, low key, hipster kind of vibe. Brookside was built in 1919 and has such charm with its yearly festivals, parades, and one of a kind shops. Some popular stops would have to be The Roasterie, a very popular coffee shop, Heirloom Bakery, Charlie Hoopers, and more. Homes in Brookside tend to be unique, as with most things in downtown Kansas City. Your average home prices in Brookside range anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000 with of course some higher and lower-priced homes as well, depending on location (and other variables). Overall, I would recommend Brookside to anyone with a love for Kansas City.

Have you ever really gotten to explore Kansas City? If there are places you have wanted to know more about but haven't gotten around to, try the Kansas City Fun Tours. The Fun Tour takes you around Kansas City on a trolley, and yes, it's air-conditioned. The tour is 75 minutes of narration about Kansas City and its offerings. You'll hear about the Missouri River, the Federal Reserve Bank, the WWII Museum, Country Club Plaza, and more! Other than the Kansas City tour, other tours are offered throughout the year such as The Holiday Lights Tour, a Comedy Tour, and a Haunted History Tour. A ticket is $20 for adults, $18 for ages 60 and up, and $10 for children 12 and under.

Are you a fan of Blues and Jazz music? Well, The Green Lady Lounge is the place for you. Pre- Covid they offered live entertainment and performances but during Covid, they have done virtual performances. The lounge is still open for food and drink services. They have a moody/mysterious kind of atmosphere that is very laid back and relaxing. It is a very "feel good" environment and feels like it takes you back in time to the speakeasy era. I highly recommend this gem in Kansas City, especially when live entertainment comes back. If you have a love for the oldies, this is the place for you.

The Crossroads is the creative, artistic district of Kansas City. A must-see for visitors, located north of the popular Union Station and just south of downtown Kansas City, this is a creative minds paradise. Lined with boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and studios, something is bound to catch your eye here. Here is where the famous First Friday's is held (closed currently due to covid), where citizens gather in the district the first Friday of every month and get to shop the pop-up art galleries, food trucks, and pop up shops on the streets! There is always constant street action in the Crossroads whether it be musicians playing on the street corner or a woman trying to tell you your fortune. This district is a must-see whether you are a visitor or a resident of the Kansas City metro.

Whereas the Nelson Museum is full of old-time art such as Egyptian and Asian art from thousands of years ago, if you are a fan of more modern art, then Kemper is the museum for you. Located in downtown Kansas City, Kemper is a free art museum that holds anywhere from 8-12 different exhibitions a year. These exhibitions change but some are permanent. Explore the museum and all the different mediums used that make these pieces come to life. The museum also hosts lectures and workshops for art lovers who love to learn. Inside the museum, besides art, is a museum shop where you can buy souvenirs and there is a café. No one piece of art is quite the same at Kemper, I'd recommend this museum to any lovers of art or anyone that likes a modern taste.

Shop local and support some of Kansas Cities' small businesses. Here is a shortlist of some small businesses I think you would get some use out of.

A store named Stuff is a place full of "stuff" from local and national artists that range from jewelry, bath and body items, home décor, and apparel. It is a gallery for artists.

Lidia's is an Italian restaurant located in the Crossroads.

Midcoast Modern is a retail shop that sells home goods, artwork, candles, and more.

The Roasterie is a coffee shop that has nine locations in the Kansas City metro area.

The Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar is located off of Ward Parkway. They offer delicious bar styled food like burgers while also having more options such as steak for a more sophisticated feel. The last time I went, I had the Granfalloon burger and as a person who doesn't really dabble in burgers, I thought it was delicious. With it, I had a side of brussels sprouts which were divine. The service I have been offered both times I have gone is great. The servers do not interrupt too much which I enjoy but are also close by when you need them. For someone who loves sports and bar food, I would definitely recommend this spot. On the other hand, with the spacious interior, you can get away from the sounds of the TV if you would like.

I stumbled across the Streetcar Bar and Grille after staying at Loew's downtown on a girl's weekend. We went there for brunch and got to sit outside on the gorgeous, sunny fall day. Streetcar is located off 16th and Main and faces the streetcar so it's easy to get to if you are riding from River Market to Downtown. It's a fun and swanky atmosphere with great decor and food choices from chopped poblano Reuben to garlic fried cheese curds to horseradish cheddar chive roast beef...Give it a shot next time you are looking for a fun place to dine. Enjoy!

Streetcar Bar and Grille is located at 1580 Main Street in Kansas City, MO.

It's been a while since I've had the chance to visit Hawg Jaw; however, I need to go there again soon. Its BBQ meat smells and tastes so delish as the meat literally melts in your mouth. The nachos are original with offering spud nachos, a cool twist on a loaded baked potato in reverse. The sides are second to none with Buffalo Coleslaw to Cheesy Corn. Make plans to visit today or this weekend. While you are there shop local at the City Market, it's never too early to get organized for soon-to-be Christmas! Enjoy!

My husband, Andy, and I went on a date recently and had a fabulous experience at The American Reserve inside the Historic Ambassador Hotel downtown. It's truly a romantic restaurant that serves Steaks to Scallops to Halibut ... I had the Scallops with Brussel Sprouts with toasted almonds and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese (it melted in my mouth). I had the KC Ice Water that is a new favorite, too. Put it on your bucket list and check out the lovely historic, recently redone dining room and bar. Enjoy!!!

What is your favorite Mexican restaurant go to? My family loves Margarita's on the Boulevard in downtown Kansas City. They offer yummy quesadillas, queso dip, burritos, and fajitas to name a few. Margarita's has a huge menu so you will be able to find something for everyone. My top entree is the naked burrito with ground beef. I have also had it with grilled shrimp and that is delish, too. Try it out and let me know what you ventured out to get and what location. Enjoy Taco Tuesday and Happy Hour is every day from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m...enjoy!
