Under construction for three years, the Lansing City Park was dedicated July 2, 2009 and named for the mayor of 20 years, Kenneth W Bernard. Where there were rolling fields and a sometimes creek, there are now two restful, stocked ponds, a market circle, playground, soccer fields, and a large area for future ball diamonds. July 4, 2010, Lansing held their annual fireworks at the park, catching many people in the rain. Each year, the display brings more and more people, with vendors also set up in the park. Near the playground and shelter, a Veterans Memorial honors local veterans on the engraved bricks.
