Oak Grove is a town of about 8,000 people. This small community is close to all the amenities of the KC metro area. Small town living with big city amenities! Oak Grove has access to several parks. Webb Park has facilities for baseball and other outdoor activities and there is a path near Webb Park that provides walking access to schools. Oak Grove also has a city park. There is also a skate park in town for kids to access right off Broadway, it is small but nice. Oak Grove is also home to Frick Park which is a great place if you are an equine lover as they have an arena. Oak Grove has great schools, and also is home to Caraway Lake which is beautiful. Lots of fun activities to do around Oak Grove. I live in Oak Grove and love the fireworks display in July and the community activities during holidays. Trunk or Treat at Halloween is always a special treat as well.

Oak Grove knows how to celebrate Halloween in a big way! Paradise Outfitter Ministries hosted another awesome Trunk or Treat for the community. In spite of the chilly weather, over 50 cars were decorated and over 2000 people attended the annual event. There were train rides, a petting zoo, donuts, popcorn and enough candy to last a long, long time. Mark your calendars and plan to come check out the fun next Halloween!

It's always interesting to come across stories/situations that add to the uniqueness of the area. In Eastern Jackson County what started as an elementary school project for a family has turned into a growing business; fresh shrimp!! Several KC area restaurants are now sourcing product from this local producer and getting great reviews! An interesting sight to see, and tasty!
