I recently spent some time exploring Parkville, and I have to say it completely charmed me. Tucked along the Missouri River, this adorable river town feels like something out of a storybook, yet it’s only about 15–20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. Historic downtown is filled with locally owned boutiques, cozy coffee shops, and restaurants. The brick streets, river views, and walkability give it that small-town feel so many relocation buyers are looking for.

When I work with families moving to the KC metro, they often want:
    - Character
    - Community
    - Great schools
    - Quick access to the city

Parkville delivers. With established neighborhoods, newer builds, access to the highly rated Park Hill School District, and beautiful park space along the river, it offers that peaceful lifestyle without sacrificing convenience. What stood out most during my visit was the pace — slower, connected, intentional. It’s not just a place to live, it’s a place to feel at home.

If you’re relocating to Kansas City and want charm with convenience, Parkville should absolutely be on your list.

For folks unfamiliar with Northland Kansas City, I wish to offer a quick explanation of the many names and confusing monikers associated with our area.

First of all, "North of the River" and "Northland" refer to all the areas north of the Mighty Missouri River generally contained in 2 major counties: Platte and Clay. Within those two counties we find Kansas City, Parkville, Platte Woods, Gladstone, and many other towns and townships and some unincorporated neighborhoods.

Secondly, many folks like to think of the Northland in terms of school districts of which we are most proud, namely Liberty, Platte City, North Kansas City and Park Hill.

Lastly, to add to the confusion, there are 1000's of communities and neighborhoods which often blend the general with the specific. For example, Park Hill is not in Parkville as indicated above, and Parkville is a town not a schood district to which it is sometimes inferred.

John and I will have lived up North for 25 years, and often refer to our old trusty maps from the early days to find our way around based on place names. Whew... can be confusing.
