Platte City, Missouri, the county seat of Platte County, is located approximately 20 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri along the Little Platte River. Platte City has a population of about 4,700 people. The city is served by the Platte County School District.
Once a sleepy town, Platte City is growing by leaps and bounds. There are tree lined streets still for those that like to take evening walks. Heart of the Platte County seat, downtown still holds the quiet charm of a small town. The orange water tower and the Dairy Queen are mainstays of tradition. Schools offer great education and are known for their sports.Shopping centers with drugstores, grocery, dining, etc. now surround the intersection at I-29 and Hwy 92. A newer community center is located on Running Horse near all of the new subdivisions. A 10-15 minute drive will get you to the airport or Zona Rosa.
