There's no better place to grab a burger and shake than Paul's Diner!
  • Prefix Coffee is a hidden gem in the Grandview and South Kansas City area. This cozy coffee shop serves delicious coffee and tea, along with a variety of pastries and, my favorite, their breakfast burritos. The atmosphere is busier, and seating is closer together than the Grandview location but is great when feeling social. There's always a social neighbor at the table next to you. They always have two or three seasonal drinks using their signature syrups or flavored honey. The coffee itself is exceptional and is roasted at the other Prefix location. The shop also offers a small retail area in the back where you can purchase t-shirts, books, and gift items. Prefix Coffee is a must-visit spot for anyone in the South Kansas City area looking for great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere.

The Fred Arbanas Golf Course is a fun and challenging course, and playing on this picturesque course is well worth the trip. Nestled within Longview Lake Park, the Fred Arbanas Golf Course is a public course, with some of the most affordable green fees you can hope to find on one of the best courses around. Enjoy playing the 18-hole Championship Course and a nine-hole par-three Executive Course - in addition to a driving range, putting green, chipping green, and complete clubhouse facilities.

Ramsey's Burgers is open, and might I say, it is phenomenal. I got a double cheeseburger with bacon, fries, and a drink. Burger was cooked perfectly, the cheese was melted, and the fries were hot and crispy. I will definitely be going back!
  • Looking for a great meal and brew? Martin City Brewing Company is the place. Just had their daily special which was a ribeye sandwich with mushrooms, bacon, arugula, and aioli with a side of mac and cheese which was to die for! The best part was it was happy hour all day today! Also a great place to lounge in the outdoor area and have a cold drink. This place will not disappoint!

    South Kansas City
I have been lucky enough to have lived in the Kansas City area my entire life. It's a city that is full of wonderful sites and things to do. It is a very diverse area, there are things to do for the whole family and also things to do just for adults. There is a plethora of options and you will be able to find something fun for you, kids, friends, and family. Having lived here my entire life, I can vouch for that statement.

Kansas City covers a very large area and one of my favorite areas is South Kansas City. It really is all about location, location, location. You really get the most out of living in areas like Waldo, Brookside, and along State Line or Martin City. There is convenient access to all that downtown Kansas City has to offer with only a 15-20 minute drive. You have access to 135th Street which will take you straight into the heart of Overland Park, where you can shop your heart out and also enjoy wonderful dining experiences, only 15-20 minutes away.

The term, "South KC" is a little misleading because in reality, it is right in the middle of everything that is going on in Kansas City. Again, just 15-20 minutes from Downtown, 15-20 minutes to Overland Park and 15-20 minutes from Lees Summit. Another benefit in regards to location is that I-49 runs right through it which makes traveling on the road quick and simple!
  • When moving to Kansas City, many areas peaked my interest. Specifically, we were thinking Prairie Village, Fairway, Waldo, Brookside and South Kansas City. After looking at all of these great neighborhoods from an analytical perspective I realized:

    1) South Kansas City offers the most bang for your buck.
    2) Depending on where you live, you can be as close if not closer to all that the metro has to offer!

To elaborate on that second point, South Kansas City offers seamless access to Martin City, Grandview, and all of the 119th Street and 135th Street retail/mixed use developments. In terms of travel time, you can be downtown or at the airport just as fast as someone who lives in Prairie Village that must navigate the surface streets before reaching the highway.

Did I mention the Overland Park and Leawood spillover effect? Just because you live on the east side of State Line doesn't mean you can't enjoy Leawood's parks which are amazing and yet another benefit to South Kansas City. I love paying Missouri taxes and walking over to the nicest parks and recreation area I know of in Johnson County. If you are value minded and work south of the city, I don't know why you would bother looking anywhere else!
