Wilshire Woods is a small subdivision located just south of 127th St and East of Switzer. What makes it unique is in today's world, most subdivisions are anywhere between 200 and 400 homes. Wilshire Woods is comprised of just 87 homes and when you have a small subdivision like this, neighbors seem to know each other a bit more. Even though it's small, it still has its own private neighborhood pool along with a a winding walking trail through the large green-space that so many home owners look for these days. It's pretty common to see one of your neighbors walking their dog or riding their bike on any given morning. Of the 87 homes, most were built in the late 1980's and early 1990's and the majority all have 3 car garages, a few with 4. Floor plans vary from 1 1/2 stories (main floor master) to your traditional 2 story plan with all of the bedrooms on the second level. A big draw for the neighborhood is it's close proximity to schools, shopping and sports. Cottonwood Elementary is just four blocks west with grades K-5. If soccer is your sport, the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex is located at the southwest Corner of 135th and Switzer, just 1 1/2 miles from the subdivision. There are 12 fields, multiple parking lots, and more at the soccer complex.Next to the soccer complex located at 9701 W. 137th Street is the Rec Complex that features 24 irrigated baseball/softball fields, along with playgrounds, climbing rocks and a multi-purpose field.
