East Lawrence Area Real Estate And Homes For Sale In Lawrence, KS

East Lawrence contains some of the most active community members in the city of Lawrence. Comprised of homes and businesses east of Massachusetts Street, the town's main drag, the sense of community and identity here is as distinct as the town is in the state of Kansas. There is a wide variety of homes to be found in East Lawrence, from those nearly as old as the town itself to some forward-thinking modern homes that seem to be pulled from the pages of Dwell Magazine.

With Downtown nearby and the KU Campus rising to the west on Mount Oread, the neighborhood is tucked into a convenient and beautiful part of an already beautiful town. While the area is one of the older parts of the city, it is not without recent changes. The old warehouses at 9th and Delaware have been turned into the Warehouse Arts District and along New Hampshire Street, brand new mid-rise condos, apartments, and hotels are rising. For the opportunity to find a piece of urban living in Lawrence, East Lawrence is most likely where you'll find your home.

This year's Kansas Food Truck Festival was a great success. The second annual spring-time event, that highlights the renewed interest in the burgeoning Warehouse Arts District in East Lawrence, brought in over 3,000 attendees to sample the variety of food trucks. Featuring local trucks from Lawrence and Kansas City, the event's popularity reflects the growing street food culture in the urban areas of the U.S. Mexican, BBQ, Fusion, traditional fare as well as vegetarian options. There was no shortage of interesting foods to sample.

Of course any food event has to have good drinks, so they served one of my favorite beers, Dale's Pale Ale from the Oskar Blues Brewery in Colorado. The weather even cooperated with sunshine and warm temperatures. Local bands were featured, along with entertainment for the children. If you missed the festival in its first two years, be sure not to miss it again. It's bound to be even bigger and better next year!
