Blue Moose is one of my favorite restaurants to eat out in Topeka! They have a great location in SW Topeka, and with their many updates, this is a great for taking clients with an awesome atmosphere. Summer has the outdoor seating and the fire pits to enjoy, and there are lots of quality food options to pick from!

This is the 22nd annual event held by the Kansas Horse Council, at Topeka's Kansas ExpoCentre, February 22nd-24th. This is a huge equine event that has multiple activities, taking place in different locations across the grounds. Literally, there is something for everyone! From cowboy poetry and art, to the vendors with tons of shopping opportunities, to the different clinicians and demos. This is not specific to a riding discipline, nor equine breed specific. If you own horses, enjoy horses or even like to view them from afar, this is an event you will want to attend! As a miserable ice storm came through Manhattan and Topeka areas I found I was stuck in Topeka and decided to try the new Hilton Garden Hotel. I was delighted how nice everyone was and that I found a room at no notice. The room is huge with large bathroom and ceilings. I have my computer with me, my iPad and am set. Nice hotel with tons of amenities. Going down for the taco special can't wait. Found a new place in Topeka I recommend.

The Charles Curtis Museum is located at 1101 SW Topeka Blvd, in Topeka. This hidden treasure was the home of our 31st Vice President and founder of the Federal Home Loan Banks. You can call to schedule tours and it is a really cool way to experience and learn the history that Topeka does hold.

A North Topeka favorite, Vikings is located in Hunters Ridge. Love the atmosphere and food. Try the BBQ and Swiss Sandwich, you will be glad you did. The staff and patrons are kind and courteous. If you are not in North Topeka it is still worth the drive over.

The Discovery Center is a great place for kids. They host a variety of events throughout the year. Interactive learning is always one of the best ways for kids to absorb the information around them. A must visit when you are in Topeka. Located next to Gage Park so when you are done exploring there you can unwind at the park, take a train ride or hop on the carousel.

The Rose Garden in Gage Park is a beautiful and serene place. Even in October you can still see the roses in bloom. One of the many things to see when in Topeka, Kansas.

Kaw River State Park is a real treasure. It's in Topeka, the only urban-type state park, and there is no admission or passes required. It's on about 76 acres of oak-hickory forest with steep slopes and good views, adjacent to MacLennan Park and Cedar Crest (the Kansas Governor's residence). The park offers hiking, walking, running and mountain biking trails, and the river is accessible to canoes, kayaks and other small watercraft. Wildlife is abundant...deer, turkey and numerous other species can often be seen in the forest. It's located north of 6th Ave, just about a ½ mile west of Fairlawn Road in Topeka.

Kansas History Museum, located in Topeka, is a great activity for the family. Be sure to stop by the Discovery Place while there for a hands on interaction the littlest ones in your family can learn through play. Lots of events on their page and guided tours for a group. I have been on multiple occasions and still enjoy it every time.

One of the many treasures of Topeka is the NOTO District. First Friday Art Walks are great and a good way to see the amazing things being done in this area with the small businesses. From the murals to the people, it is always a fun time.

The Great Overland Station has been renovated and is open for tours. It was originally opened in 1927. The railroad has been a part of the Topeka area for a long time. So to seeing this station restored was amazing. It is also adjacent to the North Topeka Arts District, which has lots of electic shops. What a great place to spend a Friday evening.

Cyclovia is of Spanish origin, meaning "open streets". Meet downtown July 29-31st to celebrate Topeka's first cycling festival. Friends, family, fitness, all to encourage a healthy community. Streets will be cycling only during the event and there will be a glow ride Friday night, trail ride scavenger hunt, BMX races, and even a 50 mile excursion ride.

Don't miss out on Topeka's 37th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration, March 12, 2016! The official Topeka St. Patrick's Day Parade began in 1980, completing its first march in 1981.
