The 2022 Missouri State Fair is nearly here! From August 11-21, the fairgrounds, as well as Sedalia, will once again be filled with the usual hustle and bustle that the state fair brings. With plenty of fair food, concerts, expositions, and rides, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Go check it out and have a famous state fair corndog!!

Community and Children Teaming Up 4 Success (C.A.C.T.U.S.) will be hosting their annual school supply distribution on August 8th and 9th, 2022. This will take place behind Convention Hall at Liberty Park. Any student living in Pettis County is able to attend the event and receive a backpack filled with age-appropriate school supplies, with the only requirement being filling out a form found at www.sedaliacactus.org.

This is a great community for seniors! I have toured the facility and I am happy with the staff and living conditions for the local residents. There are great rooms for living, hair salons, a kitchen, places for activities, and it sits on a large property for peaceful walking and enjoying being outside. There are two sections, assisted living and independent living. If you are needing a place like this, or have a family member who is needing to move to a place like this, they are happy to give you a tour!

Clover Dell Park is a great feature of Sedalia. It includes a stocked lake, soccer fields, playground, dog park, trails, and an area for archery target practice. It's a great place to get out of the house and enjoy the day at a local spot for many events!

Did you know that State Fair Community College hosts plant sales? They offer vegetables, herbs, annuals, houseplants, hanging baskets, roses, and lots more at the Potter Ewing Building Greenhouse on the SFCC Campus. You can find out when they are hosting their plant sale and other future events on the State Fair Community College Facebook page, and select the events tab.

Sedalia is home to the Missouri State Fair where you will find incredibly delicious fair food, amazing concerts, and a midway filled with fun for all ages. Want to run for your life? Try this hauntingly fun run in Sedalia! It's a fantastic way to meet new people. Now you won't have to feel guilty about eating all that Halloween candy!

Every year, for about 30 years, around Halloween, the Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club holds their annual Haunted Hayride at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Many people think of this as a family tradition with new spectators checking it out every year. On a normal year, the Optimist Club sees about 800 -1,000 people come through the lines.

There are normally five trucks or trailers loaded with hay bales that slowly drive along a one and a half mile trail through the Fairgrounds starting at dark. Haunters of all ages come early in the afternoon to start decorating and getting their costumes and face painting ready for the public. Each 'station' of haunters has a theme ranging from Bone Collectors, Zombie Apocalypse, an accident scene, chainsaws, Children of the Corn and dead people crawling around a cemetery. Included in the ticket for the hayride is also dinner consisting of hot dogs, chips and pop. The Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club Haunted Hayride is one of the many fun things to do on the Missouri State Fairgrounds!
