    The school is named after Bernard C. Campbell, one of the founders of the Lee's Summit R-7 School District. Dr. Campbell began teaching Social Studies with Lee's Summit Schools in 1941, but his students would become involved in World War II. Over the years, Dr. Campbell would drive a school bus, serve as High School Principal, become an acting Superintendent, and eventually District Superintendent. For 39 years he worked tirelessly on improving the Lee's Summit School District. We are proud to have the Bernard C. Campbell Middle School named after him.
