Crestwood subdivision was developed in 1920 by the J.C. Nichols Investment Company and is located just south of the UMKC campus to 56th Street between Oak and Holmes. Crestwood was designed as a "garden home" development for "high class residents purposes." Today, the subdivision is still one of Brookside's premier neighborhoods full of large, beautiful homes with a variety of architecture including Cape Cods, traditional Colonials and Tudor Revivals, but also Mid-Century Modern and even a home shaped like a teepee! I love when clients want to see homes in this subdivision! There is this darling "secret garden", which I wasn't aware of for many years until I was touring a home that backed up to the garden. They are considered to be some of the "special lots" in the subdivision.
