Just off of I-70 in the community of Grain Valley, at the corner of Main and Walnut, lies a fresh garden where the residents can rent a plot of land to garden. The city will even apply 1/2 of the $10 fee towards seed for residents. This is one of about 12 gardens that are being planned across Eastern Jackson County. The County has earmarked grant money to the cities that put in a Community Garden. The land is owned by the city but is managed by the City Department of Parks and Recreation. There are a few benches to sit on and a water source for the residents to use in order to ensure that their plants are getting the right amount of water. This is a very neat resource for the residents of Grain Valley to take advantage of while the weather is warmer.
