    Labor Day! As a little kid, I never thought of Labor Day as nothing more than school getting ready to start. After a summer of fun with my friend's school was not something I wanted to do. However, there was a shining light as a little girl and that was SantaCaliGon Days! At the time my family and I lived right across the street from St. Mary's. Of course, there is nothing left there but a lot between two parking lots now. I remember as a little girl being all giddy looking up Main Street and seeing all the bustling going on. Seeing the top of the Giant Ring of Fire, we just called it "The Egg". We couldn't wait until the weekend. We had so much fun there as little kids.

    We always thought it boring because Mom took us and all we ended up doing was going through the tent. We were chomping at the bit to get down to the carnival. It took forever to get there but we always would wind up down there staring up at all the rides. It gets me excited still but excited to share it with my own son now.
