Its close proximity to KCMO means that the residents of Liberty can enjoy a local home-town feel, while also having access to the cultural and recreational advantages of a big city. The city of Liberty has the honor of being recognized in August 2011 as the 7th Best Place to Live in America by CNN/Money Magazine.

Connection to transportation outlets makes Liberty an excellent choice for businesses, shopping, and recreation. Right on the Liberty Square is the sight of the first-ever successful daylight bank robbery! If you are a fan of history, specifically Missouri history, then I think this museum will spark your interest. This museum displays how the bank was back in 1866 and you will be able to picture how the robbery went down. Not only will you be immersed back in time, but photographs and documents will also be on display. Tickets for the museum are priced as adults paying $6.50, seniors (62+) pay $4.00, and children eight and under are free! Want to see a piece of Missouri history, then this museum is the stop for you.

What an amazing place to live other than Liberty, MO? Dr. Jeremy Tucker and elected school board officials have agreed they could not pick only one outstanding teacher of the year nor could they honor just one support staff. They awarded all amazing 955 teachers, a Teacher of the Year, and all tremendous 796 support staff members including a Support Employee of the Year.

All of your dedication along with parent partnership and incredible communication does not go ignored. Thank you to each and every one of you who helped all of us with the difficult and challenging year of 2020. You all are most deserving!

The City of Liberty will be accepting your Christmas tree for recycling at Bennett Park located at 1100 N. Clayview. The 800 or so trees collected each year are chipped and used to line the trails around town. Trees will be accepted until January 30th. This is a good reuse of holiday decoration.

Every year the Liberty Arts Commission brings in new sculpture pieces to add to the Sculpture Walk. Seven new works of art have been added this year around Downtown Liberty. For a map of the pieces use the Otocast app on your iPhone or Android device. You'll also be able to listen to the artists themselves give a little background on their art. Pretty cool way to explore Liberty Square!

During a "normal" school year Liberty Public Schools usually hosts a very moving program honoring Veterans. Breakfast is provided also. Because we are living in the Twilight Zone right now, this year's program will be virtual.

Liberty Public Schools Salute to Veterans Special will be aired Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 9:30 a.m. on Facebook and YouTube. Special segments will focus on local veterans that have a Liberty Public Schools focus. And don't forget to thank a Vet!

Add Boozers to your checklist of places to visit. It's in the old VFW Hall located off Hwy B past William Jewell College in Liberty. Some of my favorites are their giant deep-fried tacos and delicious gourmet cheesecake. Happy Hour is Tuesday-Friday from 3:00-7:00 pm. Every Tuesday is First Responders Day and they offer our heroes a discount on their full bill. Don't miss out and go try their yummy Prime Rib dinner! Boozers Bar & Grill is located at 1100 B Hwy in Liberty.

Welcome back to school for the 2020/2021 school year! What an exciting week starting back to school. My three kids are all doing face to face, in person. K-5th grades will be back 100% face to face if families choose that option or 100% virtual online. Middle and high schools are a hybrid schedule where students who choose to face to face, attend school two days a week and virtual/from home the other three days. Two groups are separated by the letter of their last name:
A-L attends Monday and Thursday while M-Z attends Tuesday and Friday. All remaining days are virtual. Cheers to all of our amazing faculty, staff, and administrators for making it the best year possible given the current situation. Thank you!

We all love coffee, well, most of us do. What place is your best go-to to get caffeinated? My latest find, Overflow Coffee, is located in Liberty, and they introduced me to the "pour over" that is a slow brew, rich coffee that has amazing taste. It's well worth the extra wait. Check this out and try to support local shops when you can. Enjoy your coffee, no matter where you choose!
