Prairie Village, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City located in Johnson County, has a population of 21,447. The town was developed by J. C. Nichols who is the developer of the Country Club Plaza located just a few miles away and was initially intended to provide a community for military personnel returning from the Second World War. It was incorporated in 1951 and was named the best planned community in America in 1949 by the National Association of Home Builders. The award winning Shawnee Mission School District serves the educational needs of the Prairie Village residents.
urbAna is a celebrations and home goods store located in the charming shops of Prairie Village, Kansas. From elevated bakeware and luxury dishes to seasonal decor and fresh scents, this store is perfect for every entertainer, self-proclaimed chef and master host. The owners curate specialty goods and products from all over the world that give an added dash of panache and class in your home. Some of my favorite in-store brands are: Happy Habitat, a woman-owned small business that makes environmentally friendly throw blankets, scarves and dish towels; Cereria Molla, a luxury handmade candle and fragrance company (and creator of the largest candle I've ever purchased - it burns for 400 hours!); and Skyros Designs, handcrafted ceramic stoneware from Portugal that is the perfect backdrop for all your yummy creations (my green bean casserole was extra fancy last Thanksgiving!). urbAna is the perfect store to visit if you want to elevate any occasion with friends, family and neighbors. After shopping at urbAna, continue to stroll the shops of Prairie Village or grab a cocktail and an app at one of the many delicious local restaurants in the Village.
