Missouri Governor Mike Parsons and members of the Quaker Windows family attended a groundbreaking ceremony this morning at their new manufacturing facility location in Eldon. The new facility will bring approximately 300 new full-time jobs to the area.

The 33rd Annual Eldon Turkey Festival is Saturday, September 29 in downtown Eldon. There is a turkey trot 5K that begins at 7:30 a.m. The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. There is lots of food, fun, activities, flower show, airplane rides for the kids and entertainment. Calling all racers and race fans! The Lake Ozark Speedway "Evening with the Stars" is November 18th at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. Festivities start at 5:00 p.m. and dinner and program at 6:00 p.m. Reservations can be made with Dana by emailing [email protected]. Tickets are $25.00 a couple or $15.00 a person; hotel rooms are available at a discounted rate!

The annual Firecracker Open will be held Saturday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m., shotgun is at 2:00 p.m. and the fun starts again on Sunday, July 10th at 11:00 a.m. It will cost $170 per person or $120 for club members. On Saturday, you will receive golf with carts, lunch and dinner. Then on Sunday, a tee gift, prizes, lunch and dinner. It is a three-person format on both days. Best of the Lake 2016 starts at 5 p.m. on May 4th at Redhead Lakehead Grill. There will be a reception following the event. Hors d'oeuvres will be served along with a cash bar. The public is cordially welcomed!!

Lake TV Sports made its way into Eldon this past football season and brought live high school football to our television and multimedia networks. The Eldon Mustangs hosted the Osage Indians and the community was able to watch the game live on CoMo Channel 90, Charter Channel 197. This provided community members that could not attend, an opportunity to watch from home.

There are two 5K's in Eldon coming up soon, and are both sure to be a blast. The first one is on June 27th, and is the third annual Run With the Cops at the Eldon Model Airpark. It is a 5K/10K, with the 10K starting at 8:00 am and the 5K starting at 8:30 am. The admission fee for the 5K is $20.00 and the 10K is $30.00. All the proceeds are going to the Miller County Child Advocacy Council.

The second run is on July 4th and is the Independence Day 5K. This walk/run will begin at 7:30 am. The admission fee is $15.00 before June 24th and $20.00 after. This event will start in front of the Eldon Public Safety Building. Both of these events are sure to be fun and a good way to get the new summer going!

The band Grand Funk Railroad is coming to the Shawnee Bluff Vineyards on June 6th. The Grand Funk Railroad is performing some of their greatest hits, such as " I'm Your Captain", and many other great songs. It is sure to be a good time!
