    This coming Saturday, March 31st, an Easter Egg Hunt will take place at the Hillbilly Fairgrounds in Laurie. This event is for children from tots to teens! The hunt starts at 2:00 p.m., where 14,000 eggs will be hidden throughout the fairgrounds! Every child will receive a prize. Bring your cameras as the Easter Bunny will make an appearance for a photo opportunity at 1:30 p.m. Age groups for the hunt are as follows: 1-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12. Hope to see you there!

    Phat Sal's is hosting Westside 1st Saturdays! They are being held at the Laurie Terrace Mall located at 401 N Main Street in Laurie, MO. You can come shop the local rotation of vendors that will be set up inside the mall (rain or shine). Some great places in the mall are Mojava Coffee, Raging Smart Axes & Phat Sal's. Look for everchanging specials from Phat Sal's as well! We are very excited to offer this on the Westside and let local artisans show off their wares as well as shoppers plan ahead and come from all over the lake area.

    The Lake West Chamber will present the 16th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 25 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Bank in Laurie location and travel north on Hwy 5 to the Terrace Mall.

    This year's theme is "The 12 Days of Christmas". The parade has become a tradition on the Westside, so bring your family, friends and guests to see this special, once-a-year event. The "Lighted Christmas Parade" is for everyone and will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus who will disembark from a float at the Laurie Mall to go inside and greet the boys and girls.

    Old Kinderhook will be hosting Firework Funfest on May 27, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 pm. They will have s'mores, face painting, bounce houses, a clown, games and balloon artists, Along with live music performed by Slick Nickel (6-10 p.m.). They will also be serving All American Cookout for $13.00 featuring the menu at the The Trophy Room. The night ends with a glorious fireworks show that starts at dusk. Reservations are recommended.

    Indian Rock Golf Club is a semi-private, 18 hole golf course, located on Hwy O in Laurie. It is named for the Osage Indians that used to roam this area. There are numerous Thong Trees throughout the Golf Course. Thong Trees are saplings that Indians bent to the ground to create a marker for others to follow to water and other special meeting places. Hole 17 is the signature hole and the back drop for it is a large out cropping of rocks. Even if you aren't a golfer these rocks are an amazing site to see.
