Jefferson County Area Insight

  • The Meriden Antique Engine and Threshers Association (MAETA) is located at Cottonwood Station on K-4 just north of Meriden, KS. This large and active Association loves to farm and loves to pass on the history of farming. The goal is to pass on the techniques of the past so that they don't get lost.

The Association created Cottonwood Station in 1977 to preserve through living history of early farm techniques, engines, equipment and life in small communities. Cottonwood Station is open by appointment year round and during events. It is also available for event rental! What a great place to hold an event!

MAETA has a robust calendar of events beginning with a Truck Show in June, the Annual Threshing Show in July, the Fall Festival and Swap Meet in September and a Supper & Bazaar in November. For more information visit their website and take some time to explore this great piece of living history just northeast of Topeka or northwest of Lawrence.
