I get asked a lot about sewer line repairs and it comes up in most every transaction I handle in Brookside, Prairie Village, Mission Hills and any older home area that I'm selling in whether for my buyers or sellers. All buyers of late do a sewer line inspection when they are purchasing a home which makes sellers (believe it or not, buyers as well) nervous during the inspection process, but most of the time it is a spot repair where the whole line doesn't need replacing. A lot of lines have small cracks that have been there for years. As scary as this "sounds" it's really a simple fix for the plumbers. It can be one of the more costly repairs but not as costly as a roof or a structural problem. So... if it's your dream home, don't let this issue get in the way. Remember, all things are negotiable so listen to your Realtor as they will guide you thru this step. When buying in an older neighborhood, remember that we aren't buying a new or perfect house. We are buying an older home for all the things we love, such as charm, sidewalks, mature trees, parks, the Trolley Trail, being able to walk to restaurants and most of all a community!!!
